Thanks to Sam for today's questions!! You can join in HERE!
Broken-Hearted Girl
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer questions, however, and here are today's questions!
8) In 2009, Michael Jackson died. Do you have a favorite Michael Jackson song? I liked Michael Jackson's music and especially Thriller.
9) Random question -- We're having a Saturday 9 potluck lunch! What will you bring? I like my chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole so would probably bring that.

Saturday 9: Broken-Hearted Girl (2009)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Beyonce admits her feelings for a man she doesn't want to love. Do you believe we can choose who we love? Or does the heart go its own way? Gosh, I'm not an expert. I think both are possible but the heart should be 'listened' to...
2) In the video for this song, Beyonce plays with a red rose. Florists report that the most popular colors of roses are: red, white or ivory, yellow, pink, peach or orange, and lavender or purple. Do you have a favorite? The classic is red but any natural colors are lovely.
3) The video was filmed in Malibu. Southern California is a popular vacation destination. Have you ever visited there? No. Have you ever lived there? No.
4) When Beyonce was just 12, she appeared on the show Star Search as part of a vocal group called Girls Tyme. The girls lost, but Beyonce said the experience taught her that she wanted to be a performer for the rest of her life. Share a memory from your own junior high years. Junior high?! That was nearly 60 years ago. The football coach was my homeroom teacher. That was pretty cool. Mr. Murphy. I took a class called Business Arithmetic and one of the high school football players was also taking the class. He kept asking me for answers. I remember that!! LOL
5) As a girl, she helped her hairstylist mom by sweeping hair at the salon. Do you have a hair appointment coming up? I had one on Thursday.
6) In 2009, when this song was popular, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to buy Twitter. Elon Musk acquired Twitter last month. What social media sites do you spend the most time on? Facebook and Blogger. I don't do Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram.
7) Also in 2009, Sony sold floppy disks at most retailers. But things change fast in the world of tech and by 2011, Sony quit producing floppy disks altogether. Floppies were replaced by flash drives, which have been replaced by cloud storage services ... Do you still have any floppy disks? I do, but my chrome book doesn't take them. I am old enough to remember 8-inch floppy discs that really were floppy.
Peace & hugs!
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

Thank you for your Advent verses at the end of each post. I've appreciated those! Your answers are always good and down to earth. Wow, yes, it's hard to remember anything from Jr. High now. That WAS a LONG time ago! I just know I thought all the older boys were cute. Our Jr. Hi connected to the High School building, so they weren't that far away. LOL. Let's see, I was a Jr. Hi Cheerleader. I enjoyed school and being with my friends. Oh, I was the Spelling Bee champ for our school in 8th grade, but I went to the county spelling bee and missed the word spaghetti. It still gives me anxiety every time I try to spell it. LOL. That's all folks! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri, for the many smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day, friend.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun reading your answers, Terri. I remember floppy discs, too, and when you had to print using paper with holes on the sides of it so that it fed through the printer. Times change and sometimes it is for the better.
ReplyDeleteHappy December to you-xo Diana
I felt so up and coming when I first started teaching. There was a guy locally here from Gulf Breeze that wrote a computer program for an old Apple IIC that did grades. I still have that floppy disk. This guy was way ahead of the times because that computer program was way more advanced than those that came out much later that the district was having us use. A sweet memory. For some reason I just can't get rid of that old floppy disk.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Saturday.
This would be a yummy potluck!
ReplyDeleteI was a big fan on Michael Jackson's Thriller too. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

That brought back some memories.. anyone else recall DOS? Formatting one of those floppies? I sure feel old. Have a great one.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices, Terri! I briefly considered rejoining Twitter when Elon Musk took over, but I've enough on my social media plate already. I never was assigned to a Coach's classroom but remember them being the "cool" teachers. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteJr High - now that takes me back! That's funny that you remember the football player asking you for answers. :) I was born and raised in San Diego. It's a beautiful city! We visited L.A. often but I like San Diego better. I might be a little biased.
ReplyDeleteNo TikTok for me either, but I do like Instagram.
ReplyDeleteI remember floppy disks. I still use flash drives, but I guess I better get used to using the cloud!
I am considering getting back on Facebook, Terri, and Twitter, too, for that matter. I think I'll wait until after the holidays to make any real decision.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
I like Thriller too. He was a talented man and I enjoyed watching his music videos.
ReplyDeleteI bet you do remember that football player! That would have been pretty exciting stuff for a middle school girl! Yum! Sign me up for your casserole. This potluck is really sounding good.
