Whimsical Fashion Review 2022...

There isn't a linky and there aren't any rules!
Check out the dress and help the model pick the perfect earrings to wear.
It is all in fun and just a whimsical thing.
Photos are from the Storybook of Dreams and Beauty!

I kinda fell in love with this vintage look.  It isn't something I would wear but it reminds me of Christmas traditions and how a young lady would be thrilled to find a pair of earrings under the tree.  Count down 1-2-3 and tell us which pair you would wrap up for her!  It's all in fun!

My thoughts:  Well, it was a looked-forward-to Christmas tradition for my dad to buy all of his girls a new pair of earrings, picked out by him for each of us.  He died two weeks before Christmas in 1989 but his earrings were purchased (by mom with his approval) and wrapped and there for us.  Mine are tucked into my jewelry box.  I've never worn them but I do look at them now and then and feel the love.  That said, I am going with pair #2 because the cameos match the vintage look perfectly. I loved cameos when I was younger. What are your thoughts?  Do you have a cameo?

Jim update:  The hip replacement surgery went well.  He is up, walking with a walker, and is home.  Elaine was an RN (once a nurse, always a nurse) and will be taking excellent care of him. Your prayers were and are still appreciated!!

Helen update:  I saw Helen after work yesterday.  She was still unresponsive but they had turned her over so she was on her left side, still in a fetal position though.  They had just brought her lunch but I couldn't get her to wake up.  The aid who brought the lunch said she only ate about four little bites of her breakfast and refused anymore.  She would be back to try to feed her some lunch.

As I was driving home, a social worker called me.  She apologized and hoped it wasn't insensitive but wanted to know about final arrangements for Helen.  That kind of speaks volumes.  I have all of her information (and so does the memory care unit) and gave her what she needed.  I'm still waiting for evaluations from the head nurse at the memory care unit and from the therapy unit.  I would love for her to go back to her room where there are familiar photos and furniture but am not hopeful that it will happen.

Praying for a peaceful transition for her. She has been ready for a while now.  I had dinner with her niece, Cheryl, last night so we talked about everything.  Helen has a living will and does not want any artificial measures taken so we will respect her wishes. Prayers still appreciated.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Amen.

  1. Oh, I haven't been on the blogs the last two weeks really and was unaware of all that's going on. Thankful things are going well with Jim and praying along with you that Helen can peacefully go home, but working in memory care taught me we just don't know. Many times we were sure it was someone's time only to be surprised.

As for the earrings, what a. Lovely memory of your dad...and yes, the cameos.

  2. #2 for the same reasons as you.
I pray Helen makes her visit to Heaven soon as well. We know she will be out of pain and no more dementia. Heaven awaits. Take care.

  5. Well it is unanimous about the cameos. I feel so bad about Helen. I do know not eating is a sign - but if they keep feeding her - it will prolong the inevitable. That is what they told me in hospice with my mother.

  6. I've always loved cameos, Terri, though I must admit I have a soft spot for earrings #1.
Thanks for the updates on both Jim and Helen. So encouraging that Jim is already up and about, and that Elaine, as a nurse, is more than qualified to take care of him and cheer him on.
Sad that the outlook for Helen isn't so positive, as far as staying here with us on earth, but how can we not wish her every blessing that heaven will give her?
    Blessings, my friend!

  7. Yes, the cameos have it. That would be my choice as well. Love the dress. The story about your dad giving you girls earrings every year is really sweet. (((hugs))) I must have missed the post about Jim having surgery. Glad he is doing so well. As for Helen, yes, I believe they are getting her room ready in heaven and that she will be carried there soon by the angels. There again, What Stacy said about people fooling us sometimes when we think they are ready to go is true. Nanny rallied after we had been called in, and got back up and ate food and lived an extra couple of weeks beyond what was expected. She just wasn't quite as ready as we all thought, but when the time came, she went peacefully. Praying for Helen to have a peaceful transition from this life to the next. May God give you grace and peace for all that is yet to come. (((hugs)))

  8. Although I love the cameo earrings I'm choosing #3. My thinking is they would match the leaves on the flower embroidery. It's sad to hear about Helen, the sleeping all the time is a big message. You've been such a good friend for her, you'll have a star in your crown someday. Praying for her.
