Friday Fotos...

I took a few photos of some of my Christmas decorations.

This Angel was made by my mom, years and years ago.
I love her and she is under the tree every year.

Mom also made this Santa for my sleigh.
He also is out every year.

My Advent candles are here with a few other things.

My mom made this Christmas tree.  She crocheted
it and it slides over a foam tree form.
(Also out every year.)

My dear friend, Melody, made the wreath for me,
also years ago.  The stuffed cat behind the real cat
plays "The Night Before Christmas" when wound up.
Casper, aka Tank, usually meets me there every day
when I get home.

And here is Tank cuddling with me.

And poor Vinny, looking on.  He is not a
cuddle cat, but he does get a little jealous.

That's it for this week's photos.  I went to see Helen after work yesterday.  She seemed a little more alert and was having a piece of apple pie when I arrived.  She called me by my name!  That hasn't happened in over a year.  She also asked me if I wanted a piece of pie.  The facility finally has a new hairdresser and they asked me if Helen would like an appointment.  She got very excited about getting her hair done and that is pretty much all she wanted to hear about the rest of my visit.  When was it, who was it, where should she go, etc.  She even said she didn't want to look like a boy (they cut her hair really short last time).  I also talked to one of the staff (again) about whether she thought Helen could come to my house for Christmas this year.  We are going to mull it over and see how she is doing when we get closer.  I would love to have her here again this year.

Peace & hugs!

  1. How special to have those handmade items for your decorations. They are always special. Your mom was very talented.

Your cats are so pretty. I love a cuddle cat. My Jack is definitely not that although he does like to sit next to me and purr.

I hope Helen can get to be with you on Christmas.

Your mother was very talented, the Angel Santa and tree are wonderful.

  3. Pulling the old decorations each year is a delight to me. It is funny that the older sentimental ones are all I care about these days. I hope Helen can come but I know they know best about if she can handle it.

  4. Precious memories! Like Sandy just wrote, the older sentimental ones are those that mean the most.
That framed anniversary photo of Helen and her hubby is sure a sweet touch ... as are your 4 furbabies. Never forgotten! Fingers crossed Helen's able to join you at Christmas!

  6. Love your decorations, Terri, especially since they are homemade and hold so many memories for you. I do hope Helen will be feeling good enough at Christmas to spend time with you, too.
    Blessings!

  8. Love the photos...your special decorations are extra special because they have memories attached and were made with love for you. That makes them precious. And I love the kitties...they are so sweet...especially that Casper. He seems to really love you a lot...very appreciative of having a home with you, I can tell. I am so happy Helen called you by name! That is sweet. I do hope you can have her at your home for Christmas dinner. That would really be nice for her especially, if she is up to it. Oh, I know she will appreciate the hair appointment. That was always a highlight for our Nanny. She was a hairdresser herself, so anything to do with hair was a big deal for her. Makes them feel so pretty again, and they need that. Hope you have a beautiful and peaceful weekend.

  10. Most of my very favorite decorations have sentimental meaning, also.
Very thankful for the good visit with Helen and her alernness! I hope someone takes a picture of her hairdo when she has it done. I did not know she was aware of how it looked but I felt badly for how it appeared sometimes when you visited her. However if she is not having a day based in reality due to her aging brain, it might be difficult for her to be in a beautician's chair. Hopefully this will be an experience she will remember and enjoy so it can be repeated in the future.
