Another festive party dress for the season!! Count down 1-2-3 on the purses and tell us which one you think she should choose to carry.
My thoughts: A very pretty dress (I love red) that I would have worn when I was younger and thinner (ha). As for the purses, they are all lovely. I'm choosing #3. I like it best and I like the shoulder chain, too. What are your thoughts?
Helen update: Blogging friend, Lynda asked me to write more about Helen and how she is in my life. I will do that later, but for now... I went to see her in the hospital yesterday, after work. When I walked into her room, she took a minute and then reached out for me and said "...you are my friend". I smiled and affirmed that for her. I pulled a chair up to the bed and she wanted to hold my hand. Then... a first... she started SINGING Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. hallelujah!! She kept trying to sit up and I had to tell her she can't sit up right now. I think the hallelujahs were because she thought her friend would take her home. The nurse came in and told me that she didn't get therapy because she just wouldn't let them work on her leg. She is strong. She had a grip on my hand and would have pulled herself right up if I hadn't stopped her. I can just imagine the therapist trying to make her move when she didn't want to. The nurse told me that Helen will be moved to the nursing home as soon as they get the insurance figured out and a free bed to move her to. The nursing home is right next to her memory care unit and I know many people who have gone there for therapy before going home. It is a good facility. This will be a hard journey for her. Please keep praying.

#3 for me.. looks great! Sorry to hear more on Helen's journey she is on.
ReplyDelete#3 for me! Thank you for sharing the update on Helen.
ReplyDelete#2. Poor Helen . It can be so hard on them at that age. Saying prayers for her.
ReplyDeleteI like #3 too. Praying for Helen. It does happen quite frequently, that anesthesia will make dementia worse. It's good that the surgeon warned to about it.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful to hear Helen's update. Very happy she knew you as her friend. That is remarkable with the way her mind has been.
ReplyDeleteI do remember years ago when she was able to be living a "normal" life like the rest of us. Those who take care of seniors especially those with Alzheimer's and do it well are truly called to that role. They never knew the person and who she was in her healthy days on Earth.
Speaking of strength where it was not expected, I remember visiting a shut-in one time. The woman was confined to a wheelchair. We decided to have a prayer together. I thought she was weaker but when she gripped my hands during the prayer, I truly wondered if I would have any broken bones when we said the final Amen!
I am picking bag number one I love it.
ReplyDeleteHelen might have been singing that because she knew an angel had come into her room.
Thank you for this update, Terri!
ReplyDeleteTotally out of character, but I'm going with Purse #2 ... break up all that red.
I like #3, too, Terri. Yes, I think Helen is going to be a handful when it comes to allowing anyone to work with her in therapy. I'll keep praying!
ReplyDeletePretty dress and I choose #3 too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Helen update. I love that she recognized you. Those small moments of clarity are so special. Praying!
The red dress is lovely. I wouldn't wear it probably because I don't wear true red...maybe if it was a little more on the darker cranberry or burgundy side...but for you it would be very lovely. My eyes first went to purse #1, but you are right about #3 with the shoulder strap. But, I still kind of like #1 better. Now, regarding Helen...I am so glad she knew you, in her own special way. I am praying that she will be able to do the therapy as it will help her so much. Praying for all of the changes going on in her life, and may God give her a peace of mind and also use that strength she has to help her body heal. I know this is hard on you, but wow, you are such a blessing for Helen! (((hugs))).
