Saturday 9: Time for Livin'...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE.

Time for Livin'

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Time for Livin' (1968)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about taking "time for life." Do you have a busy, highly-scheduled Saturday planned? Or will you have an opportunity to just relax and enjoy?  Highly scheduled only because Shirley and I are going on a little road trip to visit our friend Cindee.

2) Lead singer Larry Ramos begins by telling us he likes to kick off his shoes and go barefoot. How about you? Do you like to feel "the good earth under your feet?"  I do not like going barefoot now but when I was a kid, I was barefoot as much as I could be. Now you will most likely find me in sandals or Toms slip-ons.

3) He sings that once he took off his watch, he found he had all the time in the world. Tell us about your watch. I don't buy expensive watches. My everyday watch is a waterproof Timex with the date.  Joe LOVED watches and had a bunch of them.  The boys have them now.  One of my silliest purchases was this one (see picture).  It was 50 cents from some online store.  When it came, it didn't work (big surprise) so I thought it might just be a battery.  Took it to our favorite jeweler and he said the entire works needed to be replaced.  My 50-cent watch ended up costing almost $40.00, including a new band, but I love it.  Yes... the numbers are cats!!

4) With lyrics that include words like "grooving" and "hang-ups," this song is very much a product of its time. Share some of the slang you used during your adolescent years.  That was my growing-up time... groovy, cool, hang-ups, freaky, foxy (as in foxy lady), you bet your sweet bippy (remember Laugh-In),  it's a gas...

5) He sings that his attitude has been rearranged. What is something you have changed your mind about?  Most who know me well, know that I can be pretty bull-headed (I know it and admit it). I can't think of anything right now that I have changed my mind about.

6) This week's group, The Association, was founded in Hawaii. Hawaii produces more pineapple than other states in the union. When did you most recently have pineapple?  Gosh, it's been a couple of months.  The last time was in an angel food cake made with crushed pineapple. I do love pineapple.

7) In 1968, when this song was popular, Jacqueline Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis. Think about the last wedding you attended. Were you closer to the bride or groom, or were you equally close to both?  The last one we attended was in 2017 and was our great-nephew's wedding, in Pittsburgh.  Nicholas and Carolyn had a beautiful wedding and we sure enjoyed being there with most of the D'Orsaneo family.  It was the last time we were all together with Joe's brothers, too.  We hadn't met Carolyn before the wedding so we were closer to Nick.  They live in Pittsburgh and are still happy together.  I only see them on Facebook now and then.

8) In 1968, when this song was popular, Laugh-In was America's #1 TV show, making a star of Goldie Hawn. Do you have a favorite Goldie Hawn movie?  I LOVE Goldie Hawn and my favorite is probably Overboard. Hillarious!!  Watch it if you haven't seen it.

9) Random question: Who is the most recent person you made smile, and what did you do?  My boss, Danan, and I had a gab-fest yesterday morning and we laughed more than a few times.  He tells great stories about the early days of Tenoroc and the people involved back then.  I'm sure there will be smiles and laughter at Cindee's house today.  Prayers for safe travels are appreciated!

Peace & hugs!!
God's love is steadfast and unchanging!!

  3. Hope you are having a great day today!! Love your cat watch, even IF it cost a LOT more than 50 cents! LOL. I enjoyed your answers. I remember the group The Association. The song I remember most from them was "Cherish". Okay, have a great day. It looks like a pretty one, even if it is hot.

  4. Oh, my goodness, Terri, I LOVE that cat watch! It was worth every penny of $40 to fix it up. And Laugh-In was a staple in my house growing up, you can bet your sweet bippie on that. :)
Have a great time with your friends today!

  5. #5 Yes, I do change my mind for some things but I feel it's always for a good reason, such as when more information has been revealed, clearly indicating a change in direction would be wise.

    Enjoy your weekend trip! Hugs!

  6. Gosh, I've not worn a wristwatch in decades. But yours? TOO cute! I still enjoy being barefoot, but draw the line going outdoors. (Fear the unidentified creepy crawlies!) I've not thought about Goldie Hawn in years; my favorite of her roles was Private Benjamin.
As ever, prayers lifted for safe travels and good times!
