Friday Fotos...

 Friday Fotos from the Archives...

Once again I don't have any new photos of this week so I went back to this week 10 years ago and then one from this week 20 years ago.

This was our swimming pool for 28 years here in Lakeland.  We had some great times
in that pool with the grandkids, nieces & nephews, friends...

My feet...  the last few years we lived in that house, we rarely used the pool.
When I retired and we downsized, we were happy to turn pool maintenance over to
the Mas Verde management!

Twenty years ago, in June 2002, I graduated from college and was asked to do the
Call to Worship for graduation.  I was 50 years old.
Pretty proud of myself because I was terrified to go back to school.

That's it.  It was fun looking back at old photos.  It is sure a blessing to have digital records now.  So many photo opportunities were missed in years past.

Peace & Hugs!
God Bless America!

PS:  I switched back to "embedded" comments because I heard some people were having trouble leaving a comment.  If this way isn't working for you, please let me know!

  2. How wonderful to see your graduation photo. I took college classes for years and loved learning but I never got a degree. If I lived closer to a college I would go back! lol

  3. You look so pretty and poised at graduation, Terri. Indeed, you should be proud! Your former pool area sure looks inviting, but as a former pool owner (slave) I can appreciate why y'all were eager to turn over the maintenance to Mas Verde. Color me, one and done!

  4. I have so many great memories of enjoying my parents' pool with the kids; after dad died, we decided to fill it in - too much work to keep up as mom couldn't do it herself. And what a wonderful photo of you at your graduation! You had, and still have, every reason to be proud.
    Blessings, Terri!

  6. Terri, it looks like I'm able to leave a comment on this post, so thanks for the change you made.

Old pictures -- they evoke such memories from happy to sad. I tend to shy away from them these days, especially the ones FaceBook pops up. Maybe after more time has passed I can feel differently about that.

What an honor to be asked to lead the Call to Worship at your college graduation. Congratulations again on the achievement of that degree, even these many years later.

  7. Is there something different in the way the comment is being done? This looks normal to me. Maybe when I hit publish I will see the difference. Your pool looked so lovely. I can imagine your family enjoyed it a lot back in the day. Now you have a pool in your community, right? Do you ever use it? I haven't been swimming in ages. I don't even have a bathing suit that would fit, I'm certain. But when it is this hot, it sure sounds inviting. And you should be VERY proud of yourself to finish college at age 50! That is amazing!! Quite an accomplishment. I never did finish...took a lot of courses along the way as needed for different jobs I had, but never enough for a degree. I earned the PHT degree..."Putting Hubby Through". LOL. Yes, it was quite an honor for you to be asked to do the "Call to Worship". Which college did you graduate from? Was it Florida Southern, or I think there is another Christian college there in Lakeland, but I can't think of the name of it. I'm thinking you said it was that one? Either way, it was a wonderful accomplishment. You are a very gifted lady!! Have a blessed and peaceful Independence Day Weekend.

    1. Polk County has more than a few Christian colleges/universities. I attended Warner University. The campus is in Lake Wales but night classes for working adults were held here in Lakeland. I only had to go to campus once a week during my last semester. I had enough credits from Columbus (Ohio) University plus four classes I clepped to allow me entrance to the 18 month degree program. The three that I know are accredited are - Florida Southern is Methodist, Southeastern is Assembly of God, and Warner University is associated with Church of God.
