Friday Fotos...

I have a few new photos from this week...

Our Femaleship group met at Il Forno (Italian) on Wednesday evening.
There were 13 of us.  This selfie is friends Marianne, Wilma, and me at
one end of the table.

This is the rest of our group, including our Pastor's wife
and daughter.  It was fun and the food there is always delicious.

I stopped to see Helen on Monday.  She wasn't having a good day
and was a little feisty.  I took her on a walk in her wheelchair but
she wanted to be somewhere else - no matter where we were.
It is just not a fun visit with her, ever, and I always leave there
feeling inadequate and sad.  God bless all caregivers in memory care units!

The new house across the street from me is almost done. Still some sod to lay and they should be about done inside, I would think.  It sold before work was even started, but I don't know who my new neighbors will be.  It is a two-bedroom and sold for just under $190,000.  Hard to imagine.  I will keep you posted!!

Peace & hugs!

....Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

  1. Love the picture of you and your "femaleship" group! what a fun group to be with! I am so glad you have so many wonderful friends in both your church and your work and previous work...seems like you are always having someone to go out to eat with! What a blessing! And then there is poor Helen. I can imagine how difficult those visits must be for you. She really doesn't know what she wants or even that she really wants anything. She's at a stage in life where everything is decided for her and she no longer has any control over any part of her life, and so she exerts what little bit of control she has left in just not being happy...but I don't think she can help it at this point. It is so hard to see dear ones like this. My heart goes out to her and to you, as I know how helpless you feel to be able to help her. May God grant you the grace to continue on as long as possible, knowing you are probably the only bright spot in her life whether she acknowledges it or not. (((hugs))) And that new house! Yes, the cost of new manufactured homes has really escalated, along with everything else. I know our friend Linda has discovered that. There just seems that there are no affordable options left for people these days, and that is really really sad. I do hope whoever is moving into that new house will become very good neighbors to you, as I am sure you will be a good neighbor to them and they will be blessed to have landed in that spot! Keep us posted! We'll be praying for whoever they are!

  2. I say that all caregivers are angels. My grandpa recently passed and the people who stayed with him must have a resolve of steel because just thinking about how sad it is makes me uncomfortable!

  3. Yea!! I can comment here again! God bless you for continuing to visit Helen even when there is no joy in it.

Wow!!! The price of that house!! Ours is now 13 years old and we need to do painting and other upkeep. And so far we're too busy and feeling too tired to do it ourselves. Ugh!

  4. Housing prices are totally insane and they go just as you said here as well. A home just outside my cul de sac didn't even get the sign put out. The realtor listed it and a family from California bought it instantly. I am sure for an insane amount because everything I have seen would point to that.
I am sad for Helen and you. It is so hard to watch that!!!
Thank goodness for friends and fellowship.

  5. Wow, on the price of that house! Whoever they are, I don't think they could ask for nicer neighbors. Now I want to peek inside!

Gosh, I'd find it hard -- if not impossible -- to work in a care facility like that and not bring it home with me God bless those who do ... and dress Helen so nicely.

  6. Love the female ship group picture. Reminds me of our cousins’ lunches we’ve had recently. Can’t wait for the next one.

  8. I like the picture of your group. It's really nice that there are all ages of women involved.
Poor Helen, she doesn't look happy. You shouldn't feel inadequate. You have been wonderful to Helen!

  9. Such a lovely group of women, Terri - I'm so glad y'all spend time together on a regular basis. Okay, so now the Helen mystery is solved for me. She isn't looking well, and I know it breaks your heart to see her going progressively down hill. Yes, thank the Lord for the patient and caring folks who work tirelessly in assisted living communities. I don't know what we would do without them.
Blessings, and have a great weekend!

  10. Looks like a great group of friends there Terri. I know how hard it is visiting someone in Helen's situation. I used to dread the visits to my Mum during the final stage of her life. It was so hard but just occasionally there would be a flash of recognition. You're a really good friend to keep visiting as you do.
