Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Livin' La Vida Loca

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Livin' La Vida Loca (1999)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Ricky Martin sings that he and the girl dance in the rain. Do you feel like dancing this morning?  I love to dance but my dancing days are pretty much over.  Not sure my new knees could take the beating. I am still concerned about twisting one the wrong way.   Perhaps a slow dance...

2) The lyrics tell us the girl prefers champagne. When did you last enjoy a glass of the bubbly? I do not care for champagne AT ALL. I may have sipped a bit on New Year's Eve 2019... and we all know how 2020 turned out.

3) When Ricky first heard "Livin' La Vida Loca," he imagined the subject of the song was a "Bond girl," the glamorous love interest of James Bond in the movies. Since 1962, there have been more than 20 Bond films. Have you seen any/many of them? Do you have a favorite Bond?  I have seen a few of the Bond movies but certainly not all of them.  I liked Roger Moore but really like Daniel Craig better.

4) Ricky tells interviewers that when he was very young, he'd sing in the family kitchen, pretending a wooden spoon was his microphone. Crazy Sam admits to lip-synching into a black Magic Marker. When you gave imaginary concerts, what did you use as a microphone? Ha! I don't think I ever did that. I am not a singer and never gave imaginary concerts.

5) Ricky began working at the tender age of 9, performing in commercials. How old were you when you received your first paycheck?  Thirteen. I babysat for 11-year old twins the summer I was 13.  They just lived a block away from my house.  I had to make lunch for them and I got to eat too.  She asked me to vacuum now and then, and of course, clean up the kitchen after lunch.  We rode our bikes together and played outside.  I got $18.00 a week!!

6) Ricky does yoga to stay in shape. Have you ever tried yoga? Nope.

7) Ricky is of primarily Spanish descent, with a little French mixed in. When you think of French cuisine, what comes to mind?  Yogurt sauces that I don't care for.  I do love French baguettes and French Onion Soup though. Perhaps they aren't really "French" but that's what I thought about.

8) Ricky once had his own restaurant, Casa Salsa, in Miami Beach. Have you ever worked in foodservice?  Yes. Two summers during high school at an ice cream parlor and for four years in my own little bakery.  Unforgiving and exhausting.

9) Random question: What is your best quality?  Normally I would ask Joe what he thought.  Since I can't do that now, I know he answered once that I was kind. I hope I am kind. This isn't something I really give any thought to.

Speaking of Joe, today is eight months since he left this earthly life for a much better one in Heaven.  I sometimes can't believe it has been that long.  I miss him something awful and am sure I always will.  Hoping I am making him proud of me, though. I will always want to honor him and his memory.  I miss him.

Peace & Hugs!
Jesus loves you and me!

  5. I know you miss Joe so much and I know he is very proud of you. You've done so much for others even while going through your grief. Take care and have a good weekend. The only big concert I went to was with my step daughter...to see Ricky Martin! It was amazing and FUN!

  6. Has it been 8 months? Wow...you are so brave, my friend and I really mean it...I am not sure if I could do it---just keeping it real.

  7. As others have said, your strength and smile are amazing. There's no question, Joe's so proud of his lady love. I'm not a big fan of the 007 series -- and in fact, thought Daniel Craig being blonde would be a turn-off. Surprise! The older I get the better he looks. LOL.

  8. Before we gave up sugar and carb's, we would toast the New Year with a high quality Champagne. I do miss that but not the carb's. *wink*
Every time I think of how Joe has gone Home first, I cry and pray. It breaks my heart that things are like this in this veil of tears but I know we'll all be together forever with Jesus soon, and all this sadness will pass. God is so merciful to not only save us but heal all our broken hearts too. I'm very proud of you being so strong.
And, yes, you are kind and thoughtful. Very much so.
Sending love & prayers my friend. xx

  10. There is no doubt in my mind that you are living in such a way as to make Joe very proud of you. You are an excellent example to us all of how to handle the hardest of times.

  11. Yes, I am certain Joe would be very proud of you. We are proud of you. You and Barbara both amaze me and have set such a wonderful example for us to follow when our time comes, should the Lord tarry. And yes, you are very kind. You are the KIND of friend I wish I had nearby. But at least I get to "see" you here every day and I feel like I know you better than some friends who are close by. And I like what I know. You are a blessing.
