The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Tuesday 4

October Thought

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

This week, let' talk about October. Toni sure enjoyed facts about the months and questions on that topic too.

1. What are your feelings about the month of October?  It is always welcome here in Florida! Does it bring anything special to mind for you?  Cooler temps with lower humidity, but also it is the birth month for grandchildren Lauren & Tristan.  Do you have memories to share? Of course!

2. Have you ever gone apple picking?  Yes.  Pumpkin picking?  No.  Any kind of picking including banjo picking at all?  I picked lots of veggies in my dad's garden when I was growing up.  Do you bake pies with those fruits?  I am not good at pies.  Mrs. Smith or Marie Callendar get my vote!

3. What is autumn like where you live?  Delightful!  How about when you were a child?  Central Ohio in autumn was also delightful. We had a beautiful Maple tree in our backyard that put on quite a show for us.

4. Autumn is not the same as Fall. Fall is the time when the leaves are actively falling.  What activities of Autumn/Fall do you enjoy?  I just enjoy a reprieve from the heat and humidity! From mid-October through April, Florida is cool and comfortable. Might even need a sweater!   Do you decorate your door or home for the season?  Yes.

Peace & Hugs!

PS:  I stopped to see Helen after work yesterday. She was not doing well this week. Last week she seemed to be more in the present. Yesterday she was talking about her sister and brother and her mom and her husband, wondering where they are living now and why she hasn't seen them in so long.  Last week I was encouraged and yesterday I was sadly discouraged.  It is the way of dementia and is so sad.

  1. Spring + Fall are my fave. I've never picked anything but veggies. I always wanted to go apple picking + get fresh cider.
    Have a great day!

  2. I'm sorry for the disappointment with the visit with Helen. My sister experiences that with our mother, too. Up and down. Never knowing what a day will bring.

The graphic about letting go in the fall. That's good. Love and hugs! (and yes, LOVING the cooler temps!!!)

  3. It is very cool here this week which is most welcome. Today is Marvin's 70th birthday. We are celebrating in Huntsville with lunch at Bone Fish Grill. So sorry to see Helen declining. It must be so worrisome to them to remember people who are not here, my mother cannot remember which of her friends are living and which are dead. She is about the only one left now.

  4. Fall does show us the beauty of being able to let go and let God!
I'm so sorry to hear about Helen's decline, Terri. In her last days, my mother also talked a lot of non-sensical things, making us realize that her dementia was worse than we had imagined. Praying for her and for you!
    Blessings!

  6. It is sad to see someone confused but I know she was glad you visited and that's the most important thing. Take care this week!

  7. I enjoyed your answers, but I am sorry to hear about Helen. However, I believe that is typical of her situation. The closer they get to heaven, the more they think about those who have gone on before and may even think they've "seen them". One time not long before my mother passed away she thought her older sister was sitting across the table from her, and also that her "Papa" (dad) was sitting in the bathroom under the sink. She was just sure he was there. So I guess the mind does strange things as we progress in the direction of moving toward heaven. But remember, for Helen, thinking about her family is a comforting thing. (((hugs))) to you and thank you for being such a wonderful friend to Helen. She is so blessed to have you.

  8. Like my own mother, I'm so sorry to hear of Helen's asking after her husband. Years after the fact, I'm taking comfort from what Pam just wrote.
I'm guessing these are recent pictures of Lauren and Tristan? How beautiful/handsome they've become!

    1. They are not recent. Lauren's birthday in 2014 and Tristan's also in 2014. They are 33 and 26 now (I think that's right!).

  9. How well I recall mid October in Florida.. it is like a light switch was turned and the rains stopped and the heat abated... Here we are settling in for the long haul ahead..dreary November is almost upon us, after that we have the holidays to cheer us up!

  11. This time of year is the lower humidity and cooler temp's for us too.
The wreath is very pretty. I try to always decorate for the seasons.
Poor Helen. She is so fortunate, though, to have a friend like you that looks out for her. You are a blessing.
    Love & Prayers xx

  12. I'm sorry about Helen. Dementia is a hard thing to deal with.
I like your wreath. I just got a big give thanks sign for my porch, to add to the pumpkins.
Fun pics of Tristan and Lauren.
