Friday Fotos...

Happy Friday!!  I have quite a few photos to share today.  It's been an interesting week!

On Tuesday evening, I went to a special event at the Museum (where I used to work) to honor a long-time volunteer who was instrumental in getting the museum started 65 years ago.  She is retiring from the Board of Trustees (in her 90s now) and was honored with a sculpture that will be installed in the sculpture garden.  She and her late husband have been very philanthropic over the years, to the museum and other non-profits.  I got a few pictures but this one is the best with the sculpture and Miss Sarah (in pink) behind the podium.

So I'm sitting at my desk on Wednesday and the boss asked me if I wanted to come with him while he checked on some of the water flow apparatus and I said YES!  He even stopped along the way so I could take some photos.  There are 29 lakes, and 22 of them are available for public use (fishing, boating).  There are also hiking trails and horseback trails.  Here are some of the pictures I took..

I am so blessed to work where there is so much beauty.  AND we also checked a couple of gator lines that a trapper had set.  There the beef livers hung, over the water just like you see on Swamp People.  No gators on the lines but it was kind of exciting!

On Wednesday evening, I met three of my friends for what we call Lupper.  It has been Shirley, Heather, and me for most of the summer but Terry is home from their summer in Georgia and she was able to join us!  It was great catching up with everyone.  We ate and talked and talked and talked.

Shirley is a stitcher and her son got her this kit for Christmas last year.  It has taken her nine months to get it finished.  It has over 50 colors of floss.  She is so glad it is done and brought it for us to see.

Last night, the Thursday night Mas Verde gang went to Ford's Garage for dinner.  I had the best patty melt!  Yum!  There were five of us. Tim & Judy, Larry & Sharon, and me.  We had some fun and all enjoyed our meals.  This vehicle was hanging from the ceiling over our heads!  Such a fun place to go.

I see my doctor this afternoon for blood work results.  I've already seen the results on my portal so know the numbers all look okay.  Guess I still have to see her so they can bill Medicare. Just glad it's Friday!!

Tomorrow I am going to the Pioneer Day Celebration down in Lake Wales (a town southeast of here).  My boss's wife is going with me so it should be fun!!  I'll have something fun to report in my Weekend Recap on Monday!  My new friend, Vol-M, is one of the artists with a booth there and I am anxious to see her craft.  She does Rosemaling. A new craft for me as I had never heard of it before.

Peace & Hugs!

  1. What a great week you have had! Love that you met with your friends for lunch and had such a great time. That stitching is absolutely amazing!! I can't imagine doing anything like that! Yes, it would take at least 9 months I am sure! Wow! I'm impressed! And I am so happy you had the grand tour of your lakes around your park there...what a beautiful place you work in! And that Ford car over your head while you ate? Well, I'd be a little nervous, but it sure is neat! Glad you had such a great time! Oh, that sculpture is marvelous and what a wonderful gesture to honor such a wonderful person! Glad you could be there too. Sounds like a great weekend coming up as well. You are a busy gal, but I am happy for you! God is good.

  2. I love the photos you took out on the trails! Wish I was there! It is SO beautiful and the weather has been nice this week. We wish sometimes we could drive a vehicle into some of these places...maybe an ATV! heehee! But it's nice to walk too and see things up close at a slow pace. What a good week. Take care!

  3. What a beautiful place to work. I'd want to take drives around that all the time. Love your photos. We went to Ford's Garage when visiting my daughter and hubby and I love it!! I've never heard of rosemaling...it's beautiful. Now see it's only about 8:45am and I've learned 2 new things today. I've learned what rosemaling is and also I learned a new task at work that I've never done before. I guess that means I can rest the rest of the day. lol I also love your friends stitchery. So very beautiful. Thanks for sharing Terri and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Wonderful photos, Terri! How great to work where you are surrounded by such natural beauty. I'm glad, too, that you've been having such fun with friends, and that you got to attend that ceremony at the museum. Miss Sarah looks like a spry little thing, ready for the next adventure.
Blessings, and let us know what the doctor says!

  9. What a fun week! Isn't that the lady/volunteer whose birthday you shared a while back? I remember thinking, no way could she be 90-something! Love that your boss seems to have taken you under his wing. Now, I can seriously visualize that cross-stitch hanging on my wall! Wouldn't you love to accompany me down that old street and into the trattoria?

    1. No, I don't think I've mentioned Miss Sarah before so I'm not sure who you are remembering. As for walking down that street into the trattoria... yes please!!

WOW, on the counted cross stitch. She did a fantastic job. I used to make those all the time before arthritis hit. Shirley needs to have it framed and displayed. So pretty.
