My Weekend Recap on Monday...

This past weekend was my long weekend!  I work every other Saturday morning and really look forward to three days off!!  These would have been better if Joe and I weren't still coughing.  We both feel okay, but the cough continues.  Aggravating and embarrassing and concerning.

On Friday, Francheska came to clean our house for us.  Our vacuum cleaner is not working, I haven't felt like cleaning for a month with this cold and we have three cats. Enough said.  She did an amazing job and we are having her come back once a month. Joe can't help anymore and I can't get down on my knees to clean the bathroom, get under the beds and under the furniture like we need to with cat hair everywhere.  I hope our vacuum cleaner is just clogged and we can fix it ourselves.  I would love to have one of those Dyson Pet Hair cordless cleaners but sure don't have $500 to spend on it. Do any of you have a less expensive, cordless vacuum cleaner that you love?  I still need to dust and vacuum each week to keep ahead of the cat hair and dust.

On Friday afternoon, we finally got down to the farm (Joe's client). They have been sick too, so Joe had three weeks to catch up on.  Here are some photos from the farm, including an incredible sunset as we left around 6:00.

On Saturday, we were invited to our neighbors' 50th Anniversary celebration which was held at our Clubhouse. Sharon and Bob are great neighbors and friends and we felt great being included in the 100 people they invited.

Our Canadian neighbors and dear friends,
Murray and Jill. We sat with them.

Our across-the-street neighbors and dear friends
Paul and Anne with another dear friend, Cindy, between them.

Ernie & MJ sitting and Jane walking behind.

The happy couple, celebrating 50 years!
Sharon & Bob
Their son came from Chicago but I didn't get a picture of him.

Joe and me with Jill between us.

Sharon and Bob.
Cake & cupcakes!

Joe and I didn't stay too long because he was coughing and coughing and coughing.  We just snuck out when we had the chance without interrupting the festivities.  They had a DJ and there was lots of dancing going on.  It was a fun evening.

Sunday was laundry day.  We again did not go to church because of the coughing.  It is embarrassing and uncomfortable to cough, for us and for anyone sitting around us.

Back to work today. Tomorrow after work we have to head for Tampa for my appointment at the Orthopedic Institute.  Time for my cortisone shots. Hooray!

Thanks for peeking in today!  Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  2. What a beautiful evening at the farm...love the sunset and the animals. I know you enjoy that peaceful respite from the world for a while! Also love seeing the fun activities you have at your clubhouse...so nice that your neighbors had their 50th anniversary party there for all to enjoy. I am sorry that you and Joe are still coughing so much. Praying it will soon go away. Also glad you have some help with housecleaning. That is such a big help. I had that once many years ago when we were both working full time and traveling quite a bit...it was so nice to come home to a clean house, bathroom and floors...I loved that! Kind of spoiled me for a while...but that was a long time ago. So happy for you to have that help. I know you appreciate it. Hope all goes well with your knee appt. Have a good week, and get well soon!!!!!

    1. Yes and no. The Cockatoo talks though (no picture this week). It says 'pretty baby' and 'pretty bird' and will call the dog 'Coby'.

  6. Hello!
Such beautiful photos of a happy celebration!
Coughs are so hard to get rid of. I pray you and your hubby are finished with that soon!
Have a wonderful week, my friend!

  7. You have beautiful friends. What a good celebration of marriage with friends who feel like family. You and Joe are so blessed to be in such a happy place.!

That cough can be soo bothersome and linger way longer than seems reasonable. I'm sorry you and Joe and having to put up with it. Wish I had a miraculous cure to suggest!

I hope your injection today helps you as much as it has in the past. Have a blessed day.

  8. I feel your pain in cleaning...it is harder as we get older. Terri, I got one of the Dyson Cordless vacs at Lowes for just under $300 and it was worth every penny. A girl I know does house cleaning and she likes the Shark cordless vac which you can find at Amazon. Hope you and Joe get rid of that cough soon.

  9. I hope you both heal quickly! That cough lasted a long time for me and we are all still passing it around at work! UGH! I have 4 cats and I got the vacuum ever accidentally! It is a Bissell Powerlifter Rewind Pet (it comes with an amazing hair removal tool that really works)!! It was from Walmart and was around $100!! It's awesome I swear! I wrote a whole post about it! HA!

  10. I hope you get better soon. See your doctor if that cough lasts much longer. Two years in a row I had a cough that just would not go away. I even sprained my neck coughing the one year! They kept putting me on inhalers and that never helped. I finally kicked it both times when they gave me a combination of inhaler, antibiotics, and a steroid.

    1. Wow! Mine is about gone, but poor Joe just keeps getting coughing spells that are violent. I told him we need to get to the doctor if it isn't better by tomorrow.

  11. Oh Terri, I can SO relate to that insistent barking cough. Sometimes to the point I'd be hacking so hard I'd start to gag and have to run outside. I'm pretty sure my former boss and co-workers thought I was lying when I'd say, "I'm no longer sick." They didn't understand. The only thing that seemed to subside was SLOWLY sipping plain hot water. Prayers lifted!

  12. We use a Hoover that is made for pet hair & it wasn't that expensive & it does GREAT. They last us for years too. & with 4 dogs AND both Ricky & I having long hair, we put vacuums to the test!!!
I'm so sorry that cough is still on you... There is a cough medicine the doctor told me to try one time & I've been telling everyone around me that is hacking to try it & its worked for everyone - that Muscilex DM - is that the name of it? Something similar - you may have already tried it.... I hope it eases up soon. I know everyone here at work, the cough seems to last for a good solid week of strong hacking & the 2nd week has been lighter - hope you're both on the back end of it!

    1. We use Muscinex DM tablets. Is there a cough syrup? That might work! I really want a cordless vacuum cleaner this time.

  13. I love reading about you guys and your get togethers with friends. You always look so happy! I hope that cough goes away soon. It's a bad and lingering one. Those Dyson vacuum cleaners are tempting, aren't they!

  14. Sweet Terri I am glad to hear you and Joe are feeling okay but so sorry the coughs keep hanging on. Prayers that they go away soon. I enjoyed all the pictures...you and Joe look great. Have a wonderful and blessed week. Hugs

  15. So sorry to hear you are both still coughing, Terri. Hope that clears up soon! I did love all the photos you shared here with us - yes, you do have some nice neighbors, that's for sure.
Good luck with the doctor's appointment!
    Blessings!

  16. Coughing is the absolute worst. If you get through all that..you are generally worn out from the coughing and what it does to your body. I hope y'all get better soon.
I have yet to find a portable vacuum that lasts very long and does a good job. They may even start out good but lose the ability to keep it up over time. I have just quit buying them, but if you find one please share:)

  17. We've had that bug in our area too, and everyone says that the cough just drags on. I sure hope you two are better soon.
Your farm pics are especially pretty today!

  18. I hate that coughing and it’s like you can’t stop it once it starts. I’m so sorry the cough is lingering on, but glad you were able to go to the farm. I love the pic of the horses and that was a glorious sunset! I hope you are able to sleep through the nights. What a wonderful celebration. The cupcakes look so good.

  19. I enjoyed looking at all the farm pictures and the pictures of your friends at the party. It is wonderful to have a community of friends. Last year I had a cough from taking steroid shots for my hip before I had surgery. I guess that has been two years now. Anyway my doctor told me to get Kroger Allergy Relief. After a few days it took away my cough. I should have stopped taking the pills but I didn't. Then I began to get dizzy and couldn't walk well. Had I known that it was from these pills, I would have stopped taking them as soon as my cough stopped. If I ever get a cough again, I will go get them again, but I will stop taking them as soon as they work. I really do hope that you all getter better soon.

  20. I'm really sorry about the coughing. It is so exhausting.

We will be cat sitting Sam and Jenn's two cats starting this weekend. So I'm all ears for cat advice! One of them gorges the food and then throws up. So I was just watching some YouTube videos about that.

  21. Oh I do hope your coughs clear up soon. You must be really fed up of not being fully well. But at least you had a couple of outings to cheer you up even if you had to curtail the one for the anniversary. 50 years is a real achievement. All I would say with a cordless cleaner is check how long it will run for or, if you get your existing one sorted, keep it as a back up. Nothing worse than getting half your vacuuming done and it runs out of charge.
