Valentine
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Saturday 9: Valentine (1993)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
This song was specially chosen for the Saturday 9 closest to Valentine's Day.
1) This is a love song written by Willie Nelson for his young son. Have you sent any Valentines this year to someone you love who isn't a romantic partner? I am terrible about sending cards. I did not send any valentines but did give one to Joe.
2) Today that little boy, Lukas, is a singer/songwriter who wrote eight of the songs for the 2018 A Star Is Born soundtrack. Have you seen the Bradley Cooper/Lady Gaga big screen romance? I haven't seen it yet, but will when it comes to Netflix. We just don't go to the movies much anymore. I heard it was really good and I love Lady Gaga's voice.
3) On Valentine's Day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented the first telephone. Who did you most recently speak to on the phone? My friend and across-the-street neighbor, Anne.
4) Penicillin was also introduced on Valentine's Day (in 1929). When you get a shot, do you look away when the needle touches your skin? I used to be the biggest baby when it came to needles. Then I started donating blood on a regular basis (10-gallon donor now) and I no longer have that phobia. I can watch and I can also give shots (Joe's insulin when he needs it).
5) According to legend, a gift of red roses signifies love and romance. When did you last purchase flowers or plants? Did you buy them for yourself, or someone else? I've mentioned it before that I don't do plants or flowers. I don't buy them for myself or anyone else now. I guess the last time would have been for my grandma when she was living. She loved flowers so I sent them to her for Mother's Day and for her birthday.
6) This week's artist, Willie Nelson, can trace his family tree back to the Revolutionary War. Captain John Nelson served with the Minutemen back in 1776. If you could go back in time to witness any great moment in American history, which would you choose? There are many times I would like to visit just so I could meet some of my ancestors and learn more about them. That would include my Revolutionary War soldier ancestors who helped free our country from England's tyranny. Thomas Jefferson fascinates me. How fun to be invited to a dinner party at Monticello. Yes, I visited Monticello a few times when we lived in Virginia.
7) Before he became a musical success, Willie was a door-to-door salesman, peddling first Bibles, then vacuum cleaners. INC magazine tells us that the traits of successful salespeople include resilience and good listening skills. Do you think you'd make a good sales person? I have pretty good listening skills but that resilience part, not so much. I would make a terrible salesperson. I have no patience. I don't like sales people bugging me and would not want the shoe on the other foot.
8) In 1993, when this song came out, Saved by the Bell aired its series finale. Crazy Sam likes to tease her brother because he once admitted to her that he has seen all 86 episodes of this teen sitcom. Is there a show that you believe you've seen every episode? Joe and I have to be the king and queen of marathon watching TV shows. We find one we like and can sit for hours watching episode after episode, season after season. Far too many to list here. We are TV slugs.
9) Random question -- We're having milkshakes! What's your favorite flavor? Chocolate.
Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions! You can find Saturday 9 HERE to join in!
Thanks for your visit today!!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Binge watching a show....nothing more fun.... :) wishing you a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful song and brilliant guitar playing. Thanx for this, Terri.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that when Alexander Graham Bell invented the first phone it suddenly rang all by itself? Confused ... he picked up the receiver with trepidation. It was a tele-salesman selling insurance.
I used to be a door-to-door salesman selling doors. I had a suitcase with miniature doors for people to see different models and samples. I did not sell any because they were too small to fit in peoples' apertures in their homes. Also, they already had doors in their homes.
God bless.
Yep, it's chocolate milkshakes for me every time! And I, too, love Monticello, and would love to visit there again one day. It's an amazing place.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Terri!
We binge watch shows all the time too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLoved your answers, Terri, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI love Willy Nelson's voice but some of his songs aren't very nice because they are about unfaithfulness and too many girlfriends. I wish he would choose better lyrics.
ReplyDeleteAs for sending cards (of any kind for any holiday or special event), I send them out but it's getting to be a real chore. Now that we can greet people on their special day on Face Book, I'm thinking I should cut myself some slack and let a FB greeting be enough.
Have you ever enjoyed a pistachio shake? That used to be my mom's favorite from Howard Johnsons. Loved your response about visiting with ancestors! I didn't play S9, but hadn't considered that. Like you, I believe I'm a careful listener, but hardly resiliant. Who needs that sort of constant rejection?!
ReplyDeleteI dont send cards any longer but used to big time. Not a big chocolate person either...butterscotch or caramel for me. I would not be a good sales person at all. I do binge watch certain tv shows; ie, Chicago PD, Blue Bloods. I love flowers and try to keep at least one alive in the house at all times.
ReplyDeleteI like Willie Nelson. I don't think I ever heard this song though. I think his son also sings. Talented bunch!
ReplyDeleteYour Grandma was so cute!
