Friday Foto Friends...

Another Friday is here!!  It's time to link up with Deb at Breathing In Grace for her Friday Foto Friends meme!  You can find her HERE!! Thanks for hosting, Debbie!

I do have some new things to share today!  Joe and I went exploring (again) yesterday to see if we could find "The Wonder House" and find it we did!!

Our newspaper had an article about a home being restored in Bartow that was featured on Netflix's Amazing Interiors TV show.  We found and watched the episode on Netflix and decided it would be fun to see it in person.  HERE is the link for the news article.  This is a 10,000 square foot, four-story house that a young couple purchased and are trying to restore to the original specs.  They have a very long way to go...

This is the start of our road trip. I will say that there isn't
usually this much traffic at any light in Lakeland.

You really need to click on the photos to enlarge them.
The grounds are way over-grown. I was a little disappointed.

We drove around to the side to get another view.

Bartow is the county seat of our Polk County.  Lakeland is a lot bigger, but back in the day, the founders thought Bartow would grow faster.  Lakeland has over 100,000 full-time residents to Bartow's 19,500.  Bartow does have our courthouse, lots of attorney's, and bondsmen.  Bartow is about 10 miles south of Lakeland.

We enjoyed our little road trip and got home before the rain started.  We had quite the thunderstorm in the late afternoon. I will be so glad when summer/hurricane season is behind us.  We are really wet down here.

Thanks for your visit!!  Do you have photos to share?  Join in over at Breathing in Grace!

Peace & hugs!!

    God bless.

  2. Looks like a fun day trip. I guess maybe the owners will deal with the yard after the house work is done? (or maybe till a cool Florida winter when being outside is easier to bear)

  3. The "Wonder House" looks amazing...I looked at the news article. Would love to go see it sometime when it is done. I wonder where young people get the money to do these things? Thanks for sharing. I am way behind in my reading, but will try to do better.

  7. How interesting! Are these young folks rich? Lol that is also interesting about your county seat as well. Decatur is the county seat in Morgan County where we live. Huntsville is the growing city in our state. Prediction is that it will be the biggest city in Alabama in five years!

  8. WOW what a house that is and will be...I would love to see the whole inside...the video showed a little, but I cant imagine what the rest looks like. Like you said, the grounds need attention too. Thanks for sharing, and have a happy weekend.

  9. Retirement is great because you are able to take the little adventures you did not have time or priority for when working. Bill and I now occasionally take side roads - - without the help of GPS on the phone - - - to see where they go.

  10. I can't even begin to imagine starting something like this...but when it is finished I am certain it will be amazing! In time, they will take care of the grounds, no doubt. Thank you for sharing your road trip with us!

  11. What a cool adventure you went on!
I bet the grounds are over grown because of the wet weather. This season everything is jungle like here in NJ from all the rain we got. I too am hoping hurricane season comes and goes with no storms at all. We just don't need them.
I like the bridges I see in the photos.
Have a lovely weekend dear friend in Florida! Waving southward to you.

  13. I enjoyed your little road trip, too. How neat to visit someplace that was featured on the show. I love the trees with moss on them.

  16. From what I can see the exterior of the house is very nice and the grounds are simply beautiful. I hope the couple is able to do what they envision. Have a wonderful weekend.

  18. I hope the couple have the funds and time to complete the project. The house certainly has an impressive entrance with those steps. Nice road trip. We've had lots of rain the last couple of days but we needed it. I hope your weather improves.

  19. Whoa, what an undertaking! It's been many years since I visited my (former) Bartow in-laws; but ya, Bartow's a cute little town. Just for kicks, I'm going to see whereabouts it sits in comparison to the old neighborhood.

  20. I would have loved this little trip! I checked out the news article and I can see that it will be beautiful, but lots of work! I wonder how such a young couple can afford to buy a house like this and do the renovations. The landscaping certainly needs work, but I bet it will be beautiful at some point too.

    1. The guy is an attorney. Not sure about the woman. They intend to charge for tours to with the costs. All we saw was a lot of "NO Trespassing" signs on the fencing.

  21. Oh, my Friend, I'm so sorry to be visiting almost a week late. And I'm also feeling terrible that I missed that you're in so much pain. I hope by now the procedure (unless I missed something else, too) has helped you. What a blessing that Mr. Joe is taking good care of you. Hugs and prayers from Tennessee! 💜
