Thankful Thursday Link-up....

I will link up today with Rebecca Jo at Knit By God's Hand for her Thankful Thursday link-up!

I am thankful for doctors, nurses, PCAs, the hospital housekeeping staff and that Joe even has a nice roommate for this hospital visit!  Oh, and the hospital cafeteria is actually a great place to eat and isn't ridiculously expensive.

He got the stomach pump tube out yesterday afternoon and was given a clear liquid diet for his lunch and again for his supper.  He tolerated them very well and his digestive system seems to be working properly again.  Today he will get some real food added in and the doctor said he can probably go home on Friday.  Hooray!

I don't need to tell you (most of you) about the monotony of sitting in a hospital room all day, but I am blessed that the staff has all been wonderful and his roommate is even nice. Talk about a story!  His roommate had a cancerous kidney removed.  He had been having pain in his leg so his doctor ordered an MRI.  The MRI found the tumor (three inches in diameter) on his kidney.  It was just by chance because he had no kidney malfunction symptoms.  Scary stuff. He was lucky to have leg pain! Just another reason to not ignore your body when it isn't functioning properly or something hurts.  See your doctor!!

When I left last evening, the nurses were painting Christmas scenes on patient windows.  It will be so cute tomorrow. I'll try to get some photos.

Your prayers and good thoughts have all been so appreciated!!  Please continue to pray that he won't have to deal with this again. Next time will mean surgery.  Thank you!!

Sending love & hugs!!

  1. I am thankful this Thursday, to hear your news about Joe and that he is progressing toward coming home soon. I agree 100% with you in that we should not ignore our body when it gives us signals. I know how hard it is on you to sit in a hospital room, but God bless you for being there with Joe. Prayers will continue for healing and that he can get out of there maybe tomorrow.

  3. So happy to hear that Joe is making good progress and that Lord willing he will be coming home tomorrow. Wow! What a week for you! Thank you for sharing the roommate's story! What a blessing that he had that leg pain and they discovered the tumor before it was too late! Yes, we do need to pay attention to those little signals that something is not quite right. Praying now that the rest of your Christmas season will be calm and peaceful and healthy!

  11. Glad your Joe is on the mend. Hospitals are the place to be when one is ailing. My poor hubby has seen his fair share of them the past 5 years. I will keep those prayers coming. Hugs, lj

  13. I'm glad to read Joe is doing better and pray this is the last of the problem. Hospitals are interesting places and people with interesting stories. You're right about not ignoring the pain. It's there for a reason. God bless you and Joe through this.

  14. That business about cancer on the kidney is so frightening! Recently we had a young (well, 45 y/o) radio personality pass from brain cancer. His only symptom was shoulder pain the doctors characterized as a pinched nerve.

Our hospital cafeteria is pretty good, as well. Glad to see they're rising above their bad reputations. LOL!
