We had a fun weekend with Joey & Darlene. I was glad to take Friday off so we could get out and take a little road trip with them. Thursday night, we took them to Bone Fish Grill for dinner.
On Friday, we visited the Lakeridge Winery, up in Clermont, FL. It took about an hour to get there, but the weather and traffic were good. Our timing was also good since we arrived just in time for the next tour to start. You have to go on the tour in order to participate in the free tasting.
There were eight wines to be tasted. Wow! Joe and I had been there several times in the past, so we knew which ones we like and which we aren't so fond of. Actually, Publix sells a few of their wines too. Joe and I purchased three bottles of their red reserve. Joey and Darlene got two cases of the Cabernet Sauvignon! There was a special going on if you bought a case, you got one free. Good deal to take advantage of!!
A view of the vineyard and the loading dock.
This was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable.

Darlene and Joey, ready for the tasting to begin!
Joe and our three bottles.
Joey and Darlene with their two cases! Notice the grapevine covered walkway.
On the way back to Lakeland, we found a Chinese Buffet and decided to pop in for a late lunch, early dinner. The kids treated us!
On Saturday, Joey helped his dad pressure wash the pool deck first thing in the morning. All the rain we have had brought out the green algae plus it was just dirty. Looks great now!! We all got in the pool when the work was done, including the puppies! That's me with Brooke in my arms.
I made some spicy Thai chicken soup for our dinner, full of rice noodles and veggies. Joey had three bowls full. There was enough left for them to take some home with them. Glad they enjoyed it.
Sunday morning we all got up early and we took them out to breakfast. When we got home, they had to pack up and head north. I got beds stripped and the laundry started. We got a text message from Joey to let us know they arrived home safely. So, that was our weekend.
Back to work today. Thanks for your visit today! Peace & hugs!

Looks like a great weekend :)

ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I have never been to a winery. Looks like fun. Your pool looks so refreshing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I love wine tastings. I never thought about there being wineries in Florida, so will have to investigate when we move there :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen many of the orange groves froze out back in the 80s, some forward thinkers decided to try grapes and it is working...
DeleteLooks like a good weekend...smiles... Who knew that in the humidity and heat, that FL can grow grapes, smiles. Have a beautiful day, friend.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here is evidently perfect for muscadine grapes. That's what Lakeridge has.
DeleteSounds like you had a really good visit, and got the pool deck cleaned too! Hope your Monday and week ahead isnt too hectic!
ReplyDeleteThere are wineries everywhere in PA these days, but up near the NY border there are a lot concentrated pretty close together. We love going up there at least a couple of times a year and doing the tastings and tours. The "sad" thing is we tend to like one at this winery, two over at that one, etc. We HAVE to run all over to pick up the ones we like...and PA only allows a few wineries to sell in its state controlled liquor stores. :(
ReplyDeleteThat pool looks pristine and so refreshing. Glad you had a good time with your children.
ReplyDeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to come home with some good tasting yummies!
A great time with family is wonderful. I really enjoyed your pictures and sharing your weekend with you!!
