Sensing February 2016's First Hodgepodge....

Joyce gives us the great questions to answer, then we link up with the other Hodgepodgers for a very fun Wednesday Link-up Party!  Join in HERE!  Thank you Joyce!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 254

1. Describe love using all five senses.  Well, this could go in so many directions, but here goes:  I see it first. My hand reaches out for it and I touch the wrapper lovingly. Hearing the paper  tear, I capture the sweet scent as it fills the air.  The chocolate tastes so good as I slowly let it melt in my mouth.

2. February is Canned Food Month. What's your favorite food that comes straight from a can?  We don't do canned food very much anymore because of the high sodium content, but the one I still do most often is Bush's Baked Beans.  I guess that is my favorite canned go-to these days....once a month or so we enjoy it with a hot dog or hamburger. Makes for a quick and yummy dinner!

3. A principal in a UK school recently sent home a letter to parents requesting they(the parents!) dress appropriately when escorting their children to/from school (basically saying please don't wear your pajamas) You can read the letter here. It's gotten a lot of publicity, both positive and negative. Your thoughts? And do/did you ever make the school run (or hit Starbucks, Walmart, etc) in your pjs?  I don't even go out in the driveway to pick up the morning paper in my PJs.  Joe does and several of our neighbors do, but you won't catch me going anywhere outside of our house in my PJs.  Now don't get any ideas about skimpy lingerie... I wear a cotton night shirt and sleep shorts to bed, so I am covered. But..I still don't go outside in my PJs.  LOL

4. Crew neck, V-neck, turtleneck, scoop neck...which is most prevalent in your wardrobe?  Probably a toss-up between V-neck and scoop neck.  I hate wearing turtlenecks and rarely need to in Florida.  I might have one crew-neck top.

5. I read here recently a list of four things to avoid so you wake up happier. They were late night snacks, hitting the snooze button, social media just before bed/upon waking, checking emails.

Are you guilty of any of these behaviors? Which on that list do you need to work harder at avoiding?  No, I actually don't do any of those things.  I do read before falling asleep though.

6. Share something you remember about a house you lived in as a child? Of all the homes you lived in as a child, which did you love best?  We lived in three houses as I was growing up.  I don't remember much about the first one, since we moved from there when I was four years old.  I guess the last one we lived in would be my favorite.  It was one block from school, had a great front porch with a swing and had a huge back yard with my favorite maple tree, where I had a platform/treehouse to hide in and read Nancy Drew books.  It is where we lived from 6th grade through my high school graduation (and after, but I got married and moved away).

7.Your favorite movie based on a true story?  Oh my...movie fanatic here and you only want ONE?   The Nativity Story (of course!); Schindler's List; Erin Brockovich; Beautiful Mind; Radio; Blind Side; and one we watch a couple of times a year...Invincible (about the Philadelphia Eagles and a great feel-good movie!).

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Blogging and FB friend Mary Jane posted a video on Facebook yesterday that was pretty profound.  I couldn't find it on YouTube to post here, but the Facebook Post is "public" so THIS link might work if you want to watch.  It is about women feeling invisible, but stresses that all we do for others (and for ourselves) is never invisible to God. The video has a great message, so I'm hoping the link works and you will take time to watch it. A 5-minute beautiful message for women!!
-----------------------------------------

I have frequently mentioned how beautiful our Lakeland is, and I know you have read my blogs about our lakes and the bird sanctuary that is a block from my workplace.  On Monday, I was going to the bank, which is just around Lake Morton from us and once again the pelicans were relaxing on the retaining wall. They make such a picture!  You can also see some of the swans, but the pelicans were the attraction on that day!!  You can click on the photo to enlarge it.

Thanks for stopping by today!!  I appreciate your time and your comments!  Peace & hugs!

  7. Awwww gee, your answer to number one was so very clever. Chocolate. Of course love could be described like that using the five senses. Haha!
Your favorite house would have been my kind of house, too. I loved to read and a platform in a tree would have been perfect since I loved being outdoors.

  10. Lakeland is a pretty place. I've been there a couple of times. Lovely photo of your lake. I have vivid memories of the house I lived in in upstate New York. I can still walk through it in my mind. Have a great day.

  11. Loved your answer to #1, it was great! That was a great video, I think every woman that watches it will feel blessed. I love the pelicans, we have them here to, in fact, yesterday afternoon on our ride we went to the boat ramp and I was able to get some new pictures of them...they fascinate me. Most animals do, I think I must be an animal lover! Have a great day, hope it's happy and blessed!

  15. I like all of the movies you listed in your answer to #7. I never would have taken you for a Vince Papale fan! Goes to show that you never know about people. I like your answer to #8 as well. I believe that we don't appreciate that God see's all that we do for others and despite our feelings we are not invisible. Nice Hodgepodge!

  16. I love porches and porch swings! I had a favorite tree too, but it was a magnolia. I used to read up there and some of the books I read were Nancy Drew books! I fell out of that tree one day while reading. Silly me. LOL
