Prayer needed please....

My Joe had a stroke yesterday morning, just after midnight.  I have been at the hospital all day with him.  We are still waiting on more tests to be done, but he is doing much better tonight than he was this morning.

His left hand is useless, but his speech is much better and his face isn't drooping so much.  He can walk, there was no brain bleed and his memory and cognition is normal,  His throat muscles have been affected somewhat so he can't have liquids, but is getting thickened liquids and is eating a normal diet and handling it all fine.

Some of you are or were nurses. They couldn't give him the standard TPA to break up clots because he is already on blood thinners. Instead, they took him off his blood pressure meds and are hoping his BP will get high and force the clot through. Scary stuff, but we have to trust that the doctors know what they are doing.

He was making noises and it woke me up. I asked him what was wrong and he just couldn't talk. I jumped out of bed and immediately asked him to smile. He couldn't. I asked him to stick out his tongue and it was not working either. He still couldn't talk. I told him to sit still, he is having a stroke. I called 911.  The EMTs arrived in less than 10 minutes. All I can say is know the signs of stroke and heart attack. The doctor told me he is always amazed that someone presents in the ER and they tell them that the symptoms started two days ago.  Early action is key.

I am asking my prayer partners for prayer, please.  I will be spending my time at the hospital this weekend and apologize for not getting to blogs. Know that we are feeling the love!!

Peace & hugs.

  10. Tears began to roll down my cheeks as I read this account. The Lord showed Himself faithful to you with your quick action and all those who have come to Joe's aid. Tom and I are sitting here at the breakfast table as I read your post. We held hands and prayed for Joe and you. We will continue to lift you up to The Great Physician. Bless you, my dear!

  20. Teri,
I have not been on the computer much, so I'm just now finding this post! How scary! Ed gave me a bit of a scare, on Thursday night, too, but nothing like what your Joe had. (Ed's fine now) I'm sorry I'm so late in finding out about Joe, but you two will definitely be in my prayers, from this point forward. (Kathy)
