Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then hop back here (on Wednesday) and add your link to the random. Here ya go-
2. If time travel were possible, would you want to go to the future? No. The past? Yes, I think it would be great to be able to go back in time and if not meet my ancestors, to at least observe them. I don't want to know what's coming, but I would enjoy the history.
3. We're not flying cars, but some of the technology imagined in the 80's film has indeed come to pass in real life 2015-flat screen TVs on the wall, tablets, fingerprint recognition, video conferencing, online banking, 3-D movies, motion-controlled video games, drone cameras, and smart glasses (Google glass). Do you worry technology is growing at a rate so fast we'll soon be unable to keep up with it's demands? I may not be able to keep up, but the kids growing up with all the technology won't have any trouble. Do you think the Internet does more harm than good? I think it's like anything...too much is never good for you. Moderation. Be sensible.
4. Your favorite dish prepared in a slow-cooker? Pot roast with onions, potatoes, and carrots. Your favorite fast food? We like Wendy's spicy chicken and the chili. We also enjoy Chick-fil-a and Zaxby's chicken. I had a Zaxby's grilled chicken Ceasar salad last night that was quite satisfying.
5. No time like the present, down time, face time, pressed for time, in the nick of time, make time, mark time, or just in time...which timely saying most relates to your life right now? On Monday, I was pressed for time. Today there is no time like the present.
6. Tell us about a place you went as a child or younger person that's no longer there or is now something else. The Buckeye Lake Amusement Park is no longer there. How does that make you feel? Kind of sad. We had great times there when I was a kid, and that is where I learned to swim and qualified as a Life Guard. The pool there was HUGE. There was a great roller coaster. Those little mom & pop amusements went the way of family farms and general stores. It's all kind of sad to me. (Photos from the internet & link above.)
I think the Miss Ohio pageant was held there and that is what we see in the photo of the pool, above.
7. Describe your comfort zone. I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin. I'm out of my comfort zone in a crowd of people I don't know, having to speak in front of a crowd of people I don't know, and trying to make small talk with people I don't know. Everything else...bring it on (I'm sure some exceptions will surface!!).
8. Insert your own random thought here. I said in yesterday's post that I was going to start trying to drink a cup of warm lemon water each morning, at Michelle's urging (Grammie Time). I did it yesterday and today, but since I'm really not "into" lemon, this will take awhile. I am getting my 60 ounces of water down during the day. I must continue to hydrate better than I have been. Do you drink enough water?

Thanks for your visit today!! Happy Hump Day! Peace & hugs.

i, like almost everyone else I know, tend to drink more in the summer. I looked at the temperature at 10.30 this morning and saw it was 43º F! I had coffee for breakfast of course. Let us know about the warm lemon water. I think I could drink it cold better or maybe in tea.
ReplyDeleteIt was cool to see that today was Back-to-the-Future Day. The 80's were great times for fun movies. In 1985, I would have been starting my 10th year of teaching in a language academy. Actually in those days my language school was the most popular one in Madrid. Enjoy your day!
Even if you don't drink it warm, some like it at room temperature or even cold, the lemon juice is healthy either way. Hydrating is the most important thing to do with water. Especially coming off a UTI. My cousin gets them frequently and she now can feel one coming on and says, "I haven't been drinking enough." I agree with your answer on #5, I answered that one the same. I just love these Hodgepodge questions Joyce comes up with. Enjoy your Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI do not drink enough water...and to be truthful--although I do take my lunch, I often forget to eat. I enjoyed your answers, Terri...thanks for sharing. Blessings
ReplyDeleteSweet memories, Teri from 1985 and, as always, you are on top of things cooking for so many people with cast on your arm! I love a good pot roast, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and trip down your memory lane. I had also thought about our amusement park and the roller rink where I spent a lot of time. I drink huge quantities of water and try to get lots of fiber. The lemon water didn't last long with me either. ;-)
I really do chug water all day long. I seem to crave it when I go too long without it!!! I also put lemon essential oil in my water, and I think that is helpful, too. HOPE the warm lemon water helps you feel better. Bless your heart....too many physical things going on lately in you and your hubby's life! HOPE your Wednesday is good.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, I do drink enough water. So much so, that when I don't I most definitely feel it. In retrospect, I think that the majority of the headaches I had in my younger years were probably due to dehydration and I was oblivious to it. Adding the lemon to that first drink of water every morning is helpful, but even without the lemon, drinking water that early is a good start to the day.
ReplyDeleteUgh I never drink enough water. Cold Lemon water sounds refreshing but I don't think I'd like warm. It is supposed to be good for you. Hope it helps you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Great post - reminds me of a huge pool I used to go to as a kid that is no longer there.
ReplyDeleteYes, I try to drink my 60 ounces - but it is hard.
Good luck with the lemon thing - sprinkle some cayenne in it .....that's what I do!
Ooohhh....cayenne? Now that might be interesting!! I use a lot of cayenne.
DeleteWe are totally on the same page about not going to the future, but checking out our past! As for the water...I used to do really good. Now I only drink about 16 oz (with dinner). I had even got off of sodas...yeah, that monkey is back! Good luck with your water intake. I do better when my is flavored so I will throw in 2 drops of spearmint oil (YL). Delish!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to work on the water thing myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm good with the water now. When I started going to boot camp that was one of the biggest things they encouraged. I am also less hungry when I drink more water. Good luck with it...it's a process I think, but if you can do more everyday you'll eventually not even think about it.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try the lemon water
ReplyDeleteFall of '85 was a memorable one for you! Sorry about the broken wrist! It must have been tricky to cook in a cast. I do need to drink more water… thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI never drink enough water -just plain water. I drink coffee in the morning. Some water in the afternoon. Wine in the evening. ha! Wow - you broke your wrist in 7 places?!! That must have been some fall! Got arthritis in it now?
ReplyDeleteIt was seven fractures. I fell and caught myself with my hand. Should have let my well-padded backside take the hit!! I had a great doctor and have never had arthritis or any pain or motion trouble since.
DeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE your Halloween look on the blog! So cute! I'm not sure I could have prepared food for that many people with a cast on my left hand since I'm left handed. Shoot, I doubt I could have done it regardless of the hand. LOL
ReplyDeleteI went to Target today and bought the trilogy of Back TO Te Future - I have seen all three but my grandson hasn't seen any - tonight we will watch the first one!
ReplyDeleteI would like to go back and see my brother, mom, and dad one more time!
Wow, you broke your wrist in 7 places?! Ouch! Cooking for 10 in a cast must have been quite a challenge...
ReplyDeleteYou are right, that pool at Buckeye looks HUGE!!!
I loved the Back to the Future movies!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am working, I always have an insulated cup of ice water and I drink plenty. On days off, I probably don't get enough.
I totally agree with missing the Amusement Park. So many fun times. Dad had an old Lyman speed boat that we'd jump in and speed across the lake to Crab Baker's for gas and to park awhile to visit the boardwalk. Used to covet those large Cris Craft 6-seater cruisers. Did you ride the paddlewheelers when you were a kid? It was terrific to dance with Dad in the front yard to the music coming from the paddlewheelers as they traversed the lake in the summertime.
ReplyDeleteRe: Question #6, we had a similar park that had a roller coaster and fast food shops and a drive-in theater. I think the roller coaster burned down which caused the park to close. Your pot roast dish sounds wonderful!
