It's really Thursday!!

I thought Tuesday was Thursday, then all day yesterday, I kept thinking it was Thursday. What is that about?  It wasn't a long weekend to get me out of whack....

Last night was the Museum's annual Harrison Hooks Lifetime Achievement Award Banquet. It is held at the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club.  This year's recipient was David Bunch.  He is a wonderful, generous man (his wife, too!) and deserved the honor. One of my departments, at work, is Building & Grounds. We have a Board committee for B&G, and David has been the Chair for many years. We work together well and have respect for each other.

The architect for our building, Ernie Straughn, died last year. He was also a great man, a great friend of the Museum, and served on the B&G Committee.  We also honored him last night, and his widow accepted on his behalf.

I didn't get home until nearly 9:30, so didn't get on the computer.  Here are some photos from last night and HERE is the link to the newspaper story that is in today's paper.

My co-workers, Pal and Lisa, checking people in (on the left).

I sat at Table 10.  We had a nice group for dinner. Lobster & Veal on the menu.

My boss, Claire, making some remarks about David.

David, accepting his award, which was a photograph.

And since it is Throwback Thursday, I found this old photo of Joe's Uncle Bennie and Aunt Marie. Uncle Benny's hair and expression make me laugh, but Marie's dress is just beautiful (I think).  These old wedding photos always make me long for "those days" when fashions were so amazingly beautiful.  I can't help but wonder what people will say about today's wedding fashions, when they are looking back at an old crumpled photo.  Actually, there probably won't be old crumpled photos, because they will all be digital!  I don't mean to imply that there are no beautiful dresses today, because there are, but so many are downright inappropriate and ugly.  Think I'm kidding?  Check these out!!

I got to meet Uncle Benny before he died, but not Aunt Marie.
We still see and stay in touch with Joe's cousins, though!

I have to attend a funeral Mass today, at 11:00, for a friend and fellow church women's group member.  Caroline will be missed. She was a wonderful woman who loved the Lord. I'm sure she is already in Heaven.

That's all I have for today!  Happy Friday Eve!!  Finally!!  Thanks for stopping by! Peace & blessings.

  2. I love her dress too. I can watch Hitchcock's Rear Window over and over. First because I love old movies, and second because of Grace Kelly and the beautiful clothes she wears in it.

Sounds like it's been a long week for you. This week so far has been better than last week for me. I hope everyone enjoyed the banquet. Was it a black tie affair?

    1. No - just a little dressier than business casual. There were a few sparkles, but no black ties.
