Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 180
1. Speaking of 180...when was the last time you 'did a 180' on something? You know, I am so stubborn that I can't think of a time when I made up my mind about something and then changed it around to the exact opposite. Good golly. I really can't think of a thing.
2. It's Independence Week in the US of A! What's your favorite thing about America right this very minute? Favorites only! Let's hear what you love about America. I love our Military, giving their all to keep us free, and thank God for their families, too; I love our history; I love that religious freedom is being recognized again. I love that we all came from somewhere else and our ancestors worked hard to build this country on a Godly foundation.
If you're playing along today, and you're not an American but have been to America, what do/did you like best about this country? If you've never been to America, do you have any desire to visit? What's the number one thing you'd like to see?
3. Stars or stripes? Red, white, or blue? Watermelon, homemade vanilla ice cream, or blueberry pie? Well, what are stars without the stripes? Red, white AND blue. I'll take a little of each, please!
4. When did you last see stars, figuratively speaking? A couple of weekends ago, I saw some nationally known skateboarding stars.
5. 'Clear as a bell', 'with bells on', 'lots of bells and whistles', 'saved by the bell'...which phrase 'rings' truest for you lately? Have you ever seen The Liberty Bell? Yes, I've seen the Liberty Bell. I can hear my July deadlines ringing 'clear as a bell', so I need to get busy 'with bells on' to complete my work, full of 'bells and whistles', which will hopefully see me 'saved by the bell' when it rings. Whew! LOL
6. Are you caught up in World Cup fever? Have you watched a lot or a little or none at all? I think soccer is boring to watch. I would like to see the USA win, of course, and Joe is watching now and then, but I find it yawn inducing most of the time.
7. Bid farewell to June in 10 words or less. We only part to meet again, next year.
8. Insert your own random thought here. Today is my BFF's birthday. Elaine S. is now older than me for the next six months, and I always like to rub it in a little. She reads my blogs, and comments by email. We have known each other since we were around 10 years old. She lived across the street from us, so how cool to have your best friend right there, in the neighborhood? We were in marching and concert band, in high school. She played flute. We would make a batch of no-bake chocolate cookies, on a Friday night, and eat them all - yes, an entire batch. We both worked at Weldon's Ice Cream Factory, in the summers. She stood up with me, in my first wedding. I rejoiced at the birth of each of her three sons, who have grown up to be talented young men who make their parents proud. Her husband is retiring soon, and I hope that means we might be able to get together a little more often. Right now, they live in Illinois. I keep telling her Lakeland is a great place to retire to. Trying that with Karen, too. It would be fun having my two BFF's closer so we could get wild and crazy again.... Ha! Come on girls....
Thanks for stopping by!! I love your comments and wish you a blessed Wednesday!
Happy Birthday Elaine S!--we had similar answers..Joyce always has great questions! Blessings
ReplyDeleteThe Hodgepodge questions really make you think, and your answers are always good. We do agree on most things, so reading yours mirrors my thoughts too! Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteLove your answers!! A big Happy Birthday wish to Elaine! What awesome memories you shared of your friendship. Me and my bff would make popcorn on the stove every Friday night and Saturday! Have a wonderful Wednesday, Terri!
ReplyDeleteNice random about your BFF. I linked to your Throwback Thursday about Joe's parents coming from Italy. I loved that post! And good news about Supreme Court decision, huh.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed!!
DeleteGreat answers! My BF lived around the corner when I was growing up. It was great.Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha! Your #5 cracked me up! Happy Birthday to your bestie! I am a fan of soccer probably because Birdie played for almost ten years when she was growing up. Of course, it will never take first place in my sporty heart. That spot belongs to American football! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Terri. I think exactly the opposite of you in number 6. For me soccer, or as we call iit football, is much more exciting than American football. The US team gave a good show last night. Since Spain and England are out and now the American team, I'm going to root for Costa Rica. I'm going to buy some blueberries today too, but I like watermelon and homemade ice-cream. Good answers!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your friend Elaine who is hopefully reading here! I'm thinking I might make a blueberry pie for the 4th. The power of suggestion : )
ReplyDeleteThis week's Hodgepodge questions were good, and your answers were very creative!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your BFF, Elaine!
I'll answer only one question: World Cup.... sometimes when I'm only a little tired but really want to take a nap, World Cup like golf on TV, konks me right out!!! Have a great Wed!!
ReplyDeleteLovely that you are still good friends. Happy birthday to Elaine. I am looking forward to my friend retiring soon too.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is today as well. Sounds like you guys are great friends, and still share some wonderful times together. I wish I had long time friends like that.
ReplyDeleteGood job with #5! Very clever. I have two friends from childhood too that I still am in contact with. It's so wonderful having such long lasting friendships.
ReplyDeleteThat's cute how you got all those bells into one paragraph. Good job. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat read...I especially like #s 3 and 5 for your answers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Elaine!
ReplyDeleteI, too, liked how you got all those bells in. Wild and Crazy, huh? That sounds fine to me ;)
I feel the same way about soccer...it's a long game to watch. I love how you have such a lifelong friend...aren't they the best?
ReplyDeleteI *love* soccer! But here in Scotland, football is such a popular sport. The USA and the Netherlands are the two teams I was supporting, so I was pretty sick to see the US go out :'( ... they did play amazingly well though.
ReplyDeletebtw, I love your colours on the blog ... I am a real red, white, and blue girl myself :) :)
