Happy Friday to you! I'm a little late getting to the porch for a chat, but better late than never! Please sit down and let's share. The weekend is nearly here!!

Chat 149

Everyday Ruralty
Saved you a place on the porch swing. :)
Greetings to all of you wonderful people, who drop by to visit with Wendell, the Wonder Horse, and me. I often wish we could really sit on the porch and visit. I'll sit on your porch and visit, Patrice. I will see if I can get my Wendell weight into one of your benches. Oh, Wendell!  I think you are to big to sit on my benches. Can you just stand in the yard, just off the porch?Do I still get iced tea? Yes, but I didn't know you liked iced tea. I don't. Then  why did you ask me about iced tea? Because I need a glass of iced tea. When I spill it all over you, you'll have to go into the kitchen to clean it up. That's where the carrots live. You will then bring some out to me. I will? Why? You just spilled iced tea on me. (Intentionally, I may add.) I'm glad you can add, Patrice. Now go get my iced tea. Please? Yes, please.

Today's Questions:

  1. Other than those who live in your home, who's the last person who came to your front door?  It was the plumber, because our sprinkler system was leaking and Joe had to be there to let him in, turn off the water, etc. Got it fixed, thankfully. It was a bad leak and I'm not looking forward to our next water bill. Sigh.
  2. Do you have many photos around your home?  No, not anymore. I used to have a hallway full of family and friends - Joe called it the hall of horrors! They are all on a Digital Photo Frame, now, that runs all the time on a book shelf in the living room. I think there are over 100 photos shuffling there, and I continue to add to it. We do have a few of the grandchildren and nieces & nephews in frames, in the guest room.
  3. Do you like mint? Is there a favorite type of mint for you? How do you enjoy it? I am actually not a big fan of mint. I don't like peppermint at all, or wintergreen mint. I chew Mentos sugarless gum in the Pure Fresh flavor.
  4. Do you enjoy your own parties and other times with guests, or are you so busy working...? I enjoy having friends over for dinner parties, and I do my best to plan it so most of the work is done before they come through the door. Dishes don't get done until everyone leaves. I don't let company help with that. We visit, and linger over coffee and/or liquors, with dessert.
  5. What do you want to be when you grow up more? Job, hobby, self improvement, etc.  I am all grown up. I wanted to be an architect or an art teacher. Here I am, doing accounting and HR in an art museum. I'm where I am supposed to be. I have several hobbies I enjoy. There is always room for self-improvement, but after you pass 60.....(who cares?!)

Thanks for stopping by my chat today! I wish you a good weekend ahead, and appreciate your time and your comments! Be blessed!

  1. I love mint, especially in my iced tea. My mint plant isn't doing too well this year. I think slugs are eating it.
    Have a great weekend!

  3. I have one of those things to load pictures and then have it scroll, but had it put away. Since you mentioned yours, I need to dig it out and get it going again. Hope your Friday is a good one.

  4. Very good questions. I don't care for mint either. The last person through my door was our #3 daughter. When I grow up? I wanted to be a professional photographer. But pictures? Oh, my... I have oodles of them. In frames, and boxes. My hobby, when I feel like it, is scrapbooking. So when it comes to pictures, I save so many, hoping to use on a page.
Hope you have a great weekend.

  5. I don't have a lot of family photos on my walls either, and I don't like those scrolling things so I don't have that. I would have liked to have seen your 'wall of horrors' though. I adore mint. We don't have starlight candy here or other minty treats except gum and After Eight thin mints. You don't like After Eight? Enjoy the rest of your day.

  6. The most family photos I have in one place (besides boxes!) are the framed photos on our refrigerator. Laughed at Joe's comment about a "Hall of Horrors." How funny. Funny when we're younger we have all these plans, but when we get to this point we realize we're exactly where we were meant to be.

  8. I love mint in any form!
I liked your answers on having parties. I do the same as you and can get a little crazy cleaning before hand, but then I can enjoy the time with friends.

  9. I love mint. Spearmint is my favorite.

The last person through my door was my neighbor, Karen. She often comes over to "borrow" my husband .... now keep it clean, girls! ... she borrows him to help her loosen the spindle of her Weed-Whacker which is too hard for her to do. So this is a weekly thing.

Parties used to stress me, but not anymore. I like spending the time with my guests and so most of the time, our parties are spent in the kitchen.
