Tuesday's Tidbits....

  • I shared this photo on Facebook this morning, and decided to share it here, too. It makes me chuckle for several reasons, but the main one being....if the snowman makes it to Florida, he will melt! Better stay up there where it is cold enough to keep him solid for at least a few more days!
  • Someone mentioned that it does snow in Florida once in awhile. They are correct, but that snow is up on the Florida/Georgia border, and it never lasts too long. I live four hours south of the Georgia border, and in the 25 years I've lived here in central Florida, I've not seen one snowflake.  Today, the sun is shining and it is currently 75°F.  (Y'all come on down!)
  • Still no word on our flooring. Joe is supposed to call, but I'm thinking I will call, too. He forgot yesterday. Couldn't hurt if they hear from both of us, I guess. Time is beginning to get short! We have tons to do, to put things back in order before company comes!!
  • I have started sorting through photographs and am tossing more than I am keeping. My plan is to scan in the ones I want to keep, and then toss them, too. We have THREE boxes (as in copy paper boxes) full of photographs, SIX photo albums, and FOUR photo boxes. No one wants them. The boys don't want them. My sisters already have copies of most of them. The ones I will scan, I will be able to share. How nuts were we to keep all those photos?  And remember when you could get duplicates for the price of one set? I have two of almost every photo I've sorted through so far. Ridiculous.
  • AND....I also have a big box full of slides, in trays. Anyone remember slides? We still have a slide projector, that was my grandmothers. Maybe my sister and I will look through some of them. I really don't want to keep them or the projector. They just sit in the closet. Who gets out the screen and the projector anymore? I have memories of seeing vacation pictures that way. Slides were cheaper than photos back then. Oh my, we've come a long, long way.

Well, that's enough of my tidbits for today. I appreciate that you came by, and even more that you left a comment!  One more thing, though. I got word yesterday that the son of one of my high school classmates, Joe Sabo, was in a terrible accident and is fighting for his life. If you add your prayers to the ones we are already sending up for his recovery, I know it will help. Thanks for that!

Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Sounds like you are making progress with the pictures. Everything has shut down here, schools closed, etc. All my 'chicks' are home, safe and sound. Will wrap up and watch the idiot box this evening. (like your new background)

  2. As you already know..I LOVE Florida!! I even love Florida in the summertime. Some people don't like the heat and humidity but as I get older the heat doesn't bother me at all. I could never permanently leave Michigan though. I have so many family members and friends here that I would be lost without them. I could do a few months though! I love going through old photos. I have been scanning mine in too. I can't bring myself to throw the originals ones away. I sure hope you get some info about when your flooring will be delivered! I love your new background!

  3. Are you going to submit the snowman pic to Sandie for her contest? That is a great pic.
I am pondering the problem with all the photos, too. It's overwhelming every time I try to figure it out and seems boring to sit and scan them all in, but seems to be a good solution.
And, we just finished with new floors in the bathroom. They seemed to take forever (a month actually) to get the small bathroom done. I know how you feel.
Prayers for your friend's son to recover. So sad.

  5. Glad you're staying warm. I hear the snow and cold is going pretty far south!
I have the day off and have been doing some cleaning of our spare room. I have a box of pictures that need to be sorted and scanned - you want to come up and help me?

  7. That is a big accomplishment. I have to address all those old photos from my parents house, that I've kept for 10 years waiting for my retirement. Retirement has been here almost three years and the boxes are still in our garage. Maybe this summer!!!!

  8. Lucky you!!! Here in Corpus yesterday the high didn't even make it to 40. Or if it did, it was short lived. It remained around 38 most of the day.

I'm soooooooooooo ready for 75 degrees.

  9. Funny about the snowman pic. Very sad about the accident. Praying things are going better today. Someone at our church made their slides either into pics a couple of years ago. Think they needed a special machine though.

  10. I'll keep your friend's son in my prayers. I think my nephew has recovered completely from his accident that he had in September. At least he's finally opened an account on facebook.

I'm not ready to throw away my photos yet. It seems a real shame to do so. When I posted some of the old photos that I found in my old workplace in the summer, one of my friends said how lucky I was to make such a find. She buys old photos in flea markets.

Hoping your flooring arrives soon too!

  11. I like the idea of sitting down and scanning my photos and my Mom's photos even onto my computer, but all that scanning I'd feel like I'd be sitting for weeks and weeks. I think Florida or somewhere else warm is sounding better and better by the minute. We are definitely over the cold winter we are having here in Illinois this year. More snow in the forecast this week and next week...bleh give me summer anytime of the year! :)

  12. You will be so self-satisfied when you finish sorting through all your photos. When we moved out of the house I destroyed a lot of poor photos and boxed the rest chronologically in photo storage boxes from Wal-Mart. Some day I hope to get a scanner but in the meantime I narrowed the collection to 3 boxes in case I die and the sons have to do it.
