Sunday evening....

The photo is of our dining room. We started emptying out bedrooms today, and got a good bit done. We hired someone to do our painting!! I am SO happy about that. Was not looking forward to painting, with a back still on the mend and my tender knees.  Our friends, Hattie & Jim, who live in Michigan now, still have family here and the brother-in-law is a painter for one of the local home builders. Hattie told me, when they were here a few months ago, that he does painting 'on the side' too.  I called him today, and asked if he would like the job, when can he do it, and how much would he charge. I'll just say the price was right, and he can do it this coming weekend. Whoohooo!

Speaking of tender knees, something happened today that really scared me.  I was in the laundry room, and turned around to leave the room when my knee (the really bad one) just went out on me. I couldn't do anything but fall on my butt. Thank goodness nothing broke, but my tailbone is really, really sore. I've been sitting on an ice pack, hoping it will help. I will tell you that I DID laugh at myself, and called Joe to come help me. When he saw me on the floor and was scared, too, I said "I've fallen and I can't get up"!  We both laughed and he helped me get up. I have no idea why it happened, except I just stepped wrong. It's bone-on-bone so there is no cushion to protect it. Good grief....getting old ain't for sissies.

We will be doing a little work in the rooms each night this week. I still have the closets to clean out, because I want them to be painted, too. I'm just glad this is getting done!! The flooring arrives on the 22nd, so we will be able to get that scheduled soon!!

That, and doing laundry, was my day! Hope yours was more fun!! Thanks for stopping by! I enjoy your comments. Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Hooray for painters being hired!!!! Painting takes a while and as you said, you aren't really up for that right now. The good news is you are up. Very, very scary falling. Your back did not need that either.

  2. I'm happy you can have someone paint for you!
Glad you're ok, besides being a little sore. I've had my knee do that too - very scary!

  3. That is so scary. You know I know about falls. Please be extra careful. What about a knee brace for the time being?

I can't wait to see what you do with your rooms.

    Feel better...

    1. Sheila, I put one of my braces on yesterday, and am wearing it today. The knee feels okay - but my tailbone hurts today! Sigh.

  4. It worries me so much about your back and knees...I know bone on bone because that is what I had before I gave in and had the surgery. I know you dont want it, but Terri, I have not had one single problem since I had mine done. Anyway, glad you are ok and that you got so much done, readying for the paint and then new floors. It will be an all new house. Happy Monday and hope you arent tooooo sore today.

    1. Linda, it's not that I don't want the knee surgery. The doc told me I had to lose weight first and get in better shape for the surgery. I also have to figure out how I can not be off work for six weeks. I can manage two weeks off, but not six! I'm the only finance person - I do payroll and pay the bills. Hard to get so much time. I can't retire yet!!

  5. The fall is scary and thinking about knees going out on you. Praying for your healing and everything to work out for you in your health and your job.
We have 2 story house and our bedroom is upstairs. That has always made me a little nervous.
Great decision about the painting. We are holding off a little longer until the kids stop hanging onto, rubbing and butting into the walls.

  6. Sorry about your fall, but glad you weren't seriously injured!
It sounds like you've really 'got it going on' at your house! Won't it be exciting, once it's all finished?!

  7. Just one piece of advice..if your "tailbone" is still hurting in a day or two, please get it looked at. I fell once, many yrs ago, and ended up with a small fracture..some heal, some don't. I hope / pray your knee feels better. Blessings

  8. Oh my gosh! How scary! Hubby had that happen before his knee replacement surgery. Bless your heart. Hope you're mended soon. And what Simply Linda said, do get the tailbone looked at if still sore. Might be something else going on. Can't wait to see the pretty pictures of the "new" bedrooms. I'll be glad when we can do that too. God bless. ~:)

  11. Ouch!! So happy that you didn't break anything! It must feel so good to be getting the bedrooms cleaned out and ready for painting! We went to Lowes this weekend and looked at paint for our family room. I am getting so tired of the walls being yellow..it is time for a change!

  12. I can sure hear you dear on the not wanting to do the painting myself with a bad knee and wonky hips. Plus I am a lousy painter and just make a big mess.
