Saturday Afternoon....

Well, we made it to the craft fair this morning. I can't say it was a waste of time, but there wasn't a lot there. Some ladies made jewelry that was not done very well at all. The quilt I bought tickets for was there and they are still selling tickets. I didn't buy anymore, since I have six already. One woman did glass painting, and all of her things were painted for Christmas, and a little pricey. Her work was well done, but who needs more glass pieces collecting dust?  Not me, or anyone I want to buy a gift for.  Several sold quilted things. I was interested in place mats, until I saw her price of $40 for a set of six. They weren't that nice. I don't mean to sound stuck up or picky, but I didn't want to spend money on something that just wasn't up to standard.  They were not worth $40.  I did buy two things, for $3.00 each, and I think they are worth that price, if not a little more....this woman had crocheted items at her table, and she had these made up for Swiffer sweepers! They are washable cotton, and fit perfectly on my Swiffer look-alike.

I already used it to grab cat hair off the floor, before our dinner company comes tonight.  It only takes a day for more cat hair to be tumbling across the tiled floors, and this little invention worked beautifully!! I got two, so one could be in the wash while another is ready for work.

I have the salad made, fresh fruit in a bowl, the cheese plate ready, the gravy (sauce) is in the crock pot with the meatballs and sausage - smells (and tastes) wonderful, if I do say so myself.  The stuffed shells are ready for the oven, as is the garlic bread.  Rather than make a cake, we bought a cheesecake variety from Publix this morning.  It looks SO good, and Joe loves cheesecake. So, I think we are about ready for company.  The table is set and almost ready.... patriotic, for Veteran's Day.

The weather is lovely, and I have the doors open to the patio/pool. It always makes our house seem bigger when I can open those French doors off the living room.  Hoping it won't be too chilly this evening, when Shirley and Don are here, so the doors can stay open.

I hope you are having a good Saturday, and wish you a good Sunday!! Thanks for stopping by!! Peace, love & hugs.

  1. You are a wise shopper. Buying something over priced or not exactly what you want is silly. I do like the covers for the mops tho! Your table always looks beautiful and that one is no exception. Have a fun evening.

  2. What tine is dinner? (lol-just teasing)--that Swiffer thing is pretty cool. I understand about pet hair. Our German Shepherd sure likes to shed..everyday at least 2 times a day we have to sweep. Thank the Lord for wood floors! Have a great evening!!! Blessings

  3. I like that Swiffer thing - I have the cat hair issue too. :)
That last craft fair I went to had similar issues - nothing I wanted to spend money on or was too expensive.

  4. I love your table setting too and hope you can keep the doors open this evening.

I sure don't blame you for not wanting to spend that much money on something that you didn't feel was worth it. I'd like to get some things too that are not just for Christmas. Most of us already have lots of decorations anyway.

Lucky me, I've already had dinner, of course. Everything sounds delicious.

  5. I just read a Pinterest pin about buying chenille socks from Dollar Store and putting them on Swiffer. I don't have a Swiffer but I would like to get one.

Have a great night with friends. Dinner sounds yummy

  7. Is Veterans Day the same as our Remembrance Day or Armistice Day as it used to be called?
