More Frank Lloyd Wright....
I was excited to see all the comments yesterday, from those of you who like architecture and already knew about Frank Lloyd Wright!!
I stopped the car and snapped a few photos, on my way home from work yesterday. The big special event opening of the Usonian house was last night. They started at the Museum, with dinner and drinks and a program, then buses took everyone (the one whole block) to the house for another program. I was told this morning, by my boss, who had an invitation, that there were about 200 people at the VIP opening. The public opening is tonight, at 7:30, and I hope to go. I am wondering if it would be better to just wait until next week, and see it without the crowd. I'll see how I feel later. Claire said she didn't get to go into the house because the line was just too long. I have a feeling it might be the same tonight.
I am happy that it is Friday, and (for those who asked) Joe DID clean the entire house this week, over two days. How nice is that?!! It will be good to not have to clean this weekend, for sure. There are some things he missed, but I will take care of those without making a big deal of it. I am just happy that he was moved to lend a hand. He is always good about helping, but rarely does more than clean the bathrooms (which is a huge help!).
Here are the photos I took last night. I'll get more, either tonight or next week - and hopefully some of the inside, too.
The house you can see in the distance (where they are setting up the white chairs between the two, for the event) is a 1920s bungalow that was also renovated, and will be a FLW & College gift shop. I want to see it, too!
Wishing everyone a good weekend!! Thanks for stopping by. Peace, love & hugs!!

I think you ought to postpone till the crowds aren't so bad. What a shame that they didn't have quick tours through in a solid line like they do at the garden club tours here. They really moved folks through, and then they gather at a central location for refreshments.

Am anxious to see more, but I agree it might be better to wait til next weekend. My legs wouldnt hold out to stand for very long and am thinking your knees might 'talk' too. Joe is a keeper for sure. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThere will probably be too many people, so I think I'd wait. Cleaning bathrooms is a big help. That and dusting are my 2 least favourite household chores.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, thanks for sharing. I am so happy my husband cleans the one and only bathroom we have. Have a blessed Friday evening.
ReplyDeleteI'd wait till it calms down and enjoy it! Good for Joe - you better keep him. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the new Fall look!
Wow! I think Joe deserves a treat for all his hard work. hehehe I admit I had to look up the meaning of Usonian and found several web sites about the opening of this one. I'm sure the crowd tonight will be large. Wish I could see it. The pictures are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think I would wait too. I hate crowds. I love the windows.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that Joe cleaned! He is a keeper! :)
What nice photos. I would sure love to tour them with my son!
ReplyDeleteWe even know about Wright way up here in Canada. He had a big influence on West Coast B.C. architecture.
