It is so fun to meet blogging friends...

Kris and I have been blogging friends for a number of years now, first on Multiply (which we both miss!) and now on Blogger.  It is such fun to meet a blogging friend in person, and I have been blessed many times over (see my tabbed page above!).  I think this is the third time we've been able to get together, while Kris is in Florida, on vacation. Fun meeting her sister, too. Maybe someday, I will get to meet Walt!

We met for coffee this morning, and then they visited the Museum. I gave them a quick tour, which included my office and some behind-the-scenes things. It was a great way to start my day!

The photo was taken by Terry, Kris's sister. She caught me at a half-smile, but it's a great shot of Kris!

Yesterday, I got to kitten-sit with this precious little one (photo taken while she was on my desk). One of my coworkers had six kittens born under her house. She found homes for four, and is keeping two. She is also trying to capture the feral mom, to take her to be spayed. This is the fourth to be adopted, and I got to keep her until her new 'mom' showed up to take her home. She has a BIG purr!!

I was not the least bit sorry to turn her over to her new family. We have five and five cats are more than enough for us, in our little house.

I have to report that our Lucy kitty ran away last night!  We think a dog (big dog) broke through our screening around the pool.  Whatever crashed through, left a big pile of poop behind. It was too much for any of our cats to have produced, and that's all I'll say about it.  But...before we realized the screen was damaged, Lucy found the hole and made her escape.  We were frantic, of course, though she was a feral in our neighborhood before we 'adopted' her. We finally coaxed her out of the bushes, once we spotted her, and she ran back inside the pool enclosure and into the house. It took us about 45 minutes to find her and get her flushed out. Whew!  (She looks wise in this photo!)

I told Joe to keep the pet door closed until we can get some fencing to reinforce the screening. I have no idea what broke in, except that it was BIG.  Joe fixed the screen, but they can just stay inside for awhile, until we can get the fencing purchased and installed.  Fur-children stress us out almost as much as the human-children!

If you look at the end of the pool, next to the door, the bottom panel that is a bigger rectangle...that's the one something crashed through. We didn't notice, at first, because the screen was just hanging down, in place, even though the rubber spline had come out all along the bottom and up one side.  We are going to install some fencing material around the inside, bottom panels, so that nothing can crash through, and the cats can't push through... It will help, anyway.

I am having dinner with Helen and her niece, Cheryl, tonight, while Joe attends his FICPA meeting. We are making this a once-a-month, standing engagement, I think.  I'm glad Cheryl is moved in with Helen, now (as of this past weekend). I know Helen feels more comfortable with her there. (Helen is our friend, who lost her husband in March. She is 85.)

Hope you are enjoying your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by my page!  Peace, love & hugs.

  4. Thanks to facebook, I've already seen the photo of you two. All of us ex-multipliers miss that place. What a relief that you got Lucy back. It probably was a big dog that gate-crashed, but one one my friends had a small dog that pooped like every 4 days and you wouldn't believe what a sausage she produced!

  5. So glad you were able to spend some time with Kris and her sister. Oh my, fur babies can drive us nuts cant they? Maybe a big dog got in or could be an elephant...who knows...lol but glad you got Miss Lucy back in the fold. Enjoy your dinner engagement tonight.

  7. I'm so glad you found Lucy. Might have been a raccoon that broke in. They can leave large piles of poo. Hope you can get it fixed soon.
