"The Heat" with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy
Joe and I just got back from seeing "The Heat", a movie with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. We both enjoyed it, and had some really good laughs, but I have to warn you that there is a lot of profanity. If you cringe when you hear the "F" word, you won't enjoy it. I will say that sometimes I think the directors throw in profanity because they think it will bring better ratings. It was probably a little over-done in this movie, but I was not put off by it like I am sometimes, when it seems more contrived. It really did seem to fit into this story line. We both think they set us up for "The Heat 2" at the end, so I really think these two will team up again soon. It has some very silly moments, but they were funny silly, to me. I liked the movie, and so did Joe.
After the movie, we walked over to a restaurant we hadn't tried before. Burger 21.... sorry we went, and we won't go again. My burger was so greasy, that the bottom bun could not be picked up to eat the burger. I had to ask for a knife & fork, and even then didn't eat half of the burger. Very disappointed.
I have my third load of laundry in... my every Sunday project. I did do two loads yesterday, of the sheets and towels left by our company this past week, so had a head start on getting that done. We still have sunshine today!! Hooray!!
Wishing you a good week ahead! I'm headed for blood work on Monday and my MRI on Wednesday this week, as well as having year-end work and audit prep to do. I'll be busy, but good busy. Thanks for stopping by my page! Peace, love & hugs.

I put the movie on my to-see list. I had not heard about this movie yet. I always like to see Sandra Bullock and I can appreciate a good laugh. It helps enormously to feel relaxed after a good laugh and good company.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder why the "chefs" in various cooking tv-shows need to use the "F" word so frequently. I am not offended by it, but it makes no sense and to me it is a certain sign of disrespect to their viewers.
I have been looking forward to that movie because I enjoy Sandra Bullock. I hate that they throw so much bad language in movies. For me, it can ruin a good movie. I'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteTwo reviews in one,Terri. I don't think this film has come to Spain yet, but think second parts and more are very common with films. I'm not sure what films will be playing when I visit this summer. It sounds like the kind of film my sister and I would go see though.
ReplyDeleteI think I will have to skip the movie - that word does bother me. I just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteNow when is your surgery? I want to put it on my prayer list.
Love, sandie
August 13, at Tuesday, unless it gets changed. I'll keep you posted, and appreciate your prayers!
DeleteThat movie looked good. I doubt I will see it until Netflix gets it since we don't go to the movies often. I love Sanda Bullock. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri. I always like hearing whether someone likes a movie or not before I bother to go see it. I really like Sandra Bullock. She was crazy fun in 'Two Weeks' Notice' with Hugh Grant! And as far as the 'f' word, Kevin and I watched an old movie tonight that I think they used the 'f' word in about every part of speech possible. There again, as much as I get sick of it, it certainly fit the story. Do you remember seeing 'Enemy of the State'? Talk about an old movie being prescient! (although I suppose surveillance of citizens has gone on a lot, lot longer than we'd like to think). Anyway, it's a great movie with Gene Hackman and Will Smith.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your burger. That's disgusting, isn't it. Hope you have a great week.
Judy, we are movie addicts, so yes, I remember those movies. I love all of Sandra Bullock's movies and need to watch Blind Side again soon.
DeleteNice you got a date night - too bad the food wasn't better. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the movie. I may bite the bullet and watch it when it comes out on DVD. I like both of these actresses. Melissa McCarthy is a funny lady. Do you watch her in 'Mike and Molly'?
ReplyDeleteThat burger sounds horrible. I would probably return it to the cook and tell them to eat it.
Hope you have a great day.
I really enjoyed this movie! I love both of these actors. I don't think I have ever seen a movie with them in it that I didn't like. I agree about the profanity and I am so happy that I didn't take my mom with us. I asked her if she wanted to go and she declined..thank goodness..LOL. She would have been really upset. But I think it fit the character..she is brassy streetwise cop, I can't imagine her talking any other way..haha. Sorry you had such a bad experience at the burger place. The burger sounded so gross! Wishing you a wonderful week!
