Lakeland, Florida, is home to quite a few very talented people who have "made it" in the entertainment world. Most recently, Karen Olivo (http://www.karenolivo.com/) won a Tony for her role on Broadway in 'West Side Story'. Her dad, Rick, is an artist and drama coach, who teaches classes for the Museum (where I work) during our Summer Art Camp.
Lindsey Alley started her career on the Mickey Mouse Club (Orlando). Burt Reynolds mentored her, and she appeared in quite a few of the shows at his Dinner Show-type Restaurant down Miami way. When she was in college, she actually worked for me, in our Museum gift shop during the summer. She is very funny, very nice, and recently got married (they live in California). Her folks still live here in Lakeland, and she and her mom, Marcia, started a YouTube video series called "On The Patio". Their "new season" has just begun, and I thought some of you might get a kick out of it. Maybe it is more meaningful to me because I know both of them, and have even been in the Alley home for a couple of parties. Lindsey's dad is retired from the Sheriff's department. They are very active in the First United Methodist Church here in town, and are just "good people". Take a look if you would like a few chuckles - mother and daughter stuff. It isn't very long. If you enjoy it, look back at some of the older ones. The ones when they discuss Lindsey's wedding are really cute.https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tQ8v4Qe9Hpc#at=11
I'm trying to post something a little more interesting than yesterday's post, even though today is pretty much a replay of yesterday. I have tomorrow off, and look forward to sleeping in a bit, before going to the clinic. Thursday evening, our Board President and his wife are having a little reception for all the Museum staff, at their house. It is just staff, so Joe can't go, but I won't stay long. Pretty much have to show up, but I don't have to stay for two hours. It's nice that they wanted to do something for staff.
Hope you have had a good Tuesday, and I wish you a good Wednesday! Peace, love & hugs.

Don't you just love it when someone local has "made it" and even more so when you know that person! I can't wait to check out Lindsey and her mom's videos. I love these types of videos. That is so nice of the Board President to host a reception for the staff. Good luck tomorrow with your MRI and EKG.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting. She's a pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice that the board president is doing something like this for the staff. Even tho' you're not staying long, I hope you have a good time.
I'm going to go check out the video now. Have a good night.
Thanks for the link, Terri. I see they're also on pinterest. I enjoy watching videos like this. I thought it strange though that her bed isn't American-size - I mean very big. Talking about American-size, did you know here a kitchenette is called an American kitchen? I suppose for South America though.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the video, Brenda. Our kitchens tend to be bigger than our king size beds! I thought it strange that they have a regular double bed, too.
DeleteOn the Patio is very cute, thanks for sharing that. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I don't know of anybody from here making it big. Doesn't mean that there isn't, just that I don't know them. ;) Suppossedly (sp?) Oprah's ex, Steadman has relatives that live in the area. Not very exciting LOL
ReplyDeleteLindsey is very pretty. I will go check out the video. Thanks for sharing the link. Hope you are having a great week sweet friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautiful girl - and so cool you know her. I don't think that I have ever known a famous person! lol sandie
