Hodgepodge Wednesday....

....but it is HodgePodge Wednesday, and here are the questions, with my answers:

1. What's one simple small pleasure on your summer 'to-do' list?  It is too hot in Florida, in the summer, to make any plans for outside or inside. I guess the simplest pleasure is staying in the air conditioning!

2. Do you have strong feelings or opinions regarding the immigration debate in your home country? Feel free to share your thoughts, but please play nice.  We need to enforce the laws that are already in place. I do not believe we should give blanket immunity to the thousands of illegals in the country. Illegal says it all, and “they” should stop trying to sugar coat it. Come here with the proper papers, learn to speak English, respect our flag, and be thankful for the opportunities available here. My ancestors came here legally, as did my husband’s family. Be productive and stop taking and taking and taking. I hope that’s nice enough.

3.  What's something in your home or wardrobe that could be described as 'star spangled'? I have a sparkly dress I’ve worn for a few dress-up events, but it isn’t really ‘star spangled’. I have a t-shirt that has a flag on the front of it, so perhaps that is a better reflection of ‘star spangled’ clothing. My sister made a wooden flag from scrap lumber that hangs in our pool area, and we always have a red, white & blue windsock hanging in front of our house.

4.  Is your house set up for a party? Whether it is or isn’t, we have hosted lots of parties. My 60th birthday party brought 57 people into the house and on the patio around the pool. We put up tents and it all worked beautifully. If we can’t over-flow into the pool area, the house will only comfortably hold (maybe) 20. I can seat 12 at my dining room table, for a sit-down dinner, but 10 works better.

5. What one never-before-visited city in America, would you most like to see?  Boston comes to mind, as does Chicago, but I don’t have a burning desire for either.

6. Your favorite red food? White food? Blue food?  Red would be tomatoes; white would be potatoes; blue? Blueberries are all I can think of that is blue, and I do like blueberries.

7. What freedom do you value the most, and why?  I value all of our freedoms, and get angry when the government starts taking them away. One is no more valuable than another in my opinion.  Collectively they made America great, and as each one is pulled from under us, America weakens.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Now I’m fired up from thinking about #7. I detest what is happening here.

Wishing you a good Wednesday, and for my fellow Americans....a blessed and joyful Independence Day tomorrow!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. You are probably one of the most well rounded people I know. I love hearing your thoughts, ideas, and just day to day. You enjoy your home, your husband, your family, your job, your friends, love to entertain, travel, and I could go on and on. In other words, I respect and admire you my friend. Happy 4th of July in celebration of this great country we live in and love.

    1. You are too kind with those words, Linda. I'm glad you enjoy my blogs, and know that I treasure our friendship. I do try to stay positive and enjoy things and people around me. You have my admiration and respect too, for all you have to go through on a daily basis. Happy 4th to you and yours!

  2. Stopping by from the HP. Oh, I so agree with your great thoughts on #7 even though I said "freedom of speech." It is so terribly sad to see the demise of the America we once knew.

    Happy day of celebrating tomorrow!

  3. Isn't it great that we live in a country where we can voice our opinions without fear of being persecuted? Hopefully that will never be taken away from us!

  5. I guess we're all fired up, Terri. Wishing everyone, even those who think taking away people's rights will make them safe (do you think they still believe in Santa?), a happy INDEPENDENCE DAY.

  8. This is a GREAT post. On item #2, you have me shouting, "Preach it, Sister!!!" When my daughter lived in Japan for two years to teach English, she had to learn Japanese to communicate and she had to work per her contract instructions. Packages did not have Japanese & English instructions. So I strongly agree with #2 & #7. And I agree with #1 - - there's more than enough to do in the summertime inside our air-conditioned houses!!!! Hope your day today was great!
