Another Rainy Day...
I took a vacation day today, so we could take Tristan to our drop off/pick up point in Punta Gorda, FL (about half-way between Lakeland and Naples). We are sure sad to see him go, because we so enjoy his company. Now the house is too quiet, with everyone, including the puppies, now gone home. The cats have the house back, and it IS their house!
We arrived at the Circle K/Shell Station a few minutes ahead of Jim (Tristan's step-dad). From Punta Gorda, they were headed for the Ft. Myers Airport, to pick up a friend of Tristan's, who will be visiting a few days, from their old neighborhood, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia). It is nice that the kids can see each other now and then, and continue their friendships.
Joe and I decided to explore Punta Gorda a bit, since we didn't have a schedule to keep. We visited Fisherman's Village, which is a shopping area with restaurants and vacation Villas. It is nice, but the shops are all a bit pricey, as would be expected. By the time we were headed back to Lakeland, the clouds opened up and we had rain and strong wind the rest of the trip home. Had to stop for gasoline on the way. We found a great price - $3.28 per gallon!! Poor Joe was nearly soaked, though, even with the canopy over the pumps the wind was blowing the rain nearly horizontal. Nasty weather is what we have been having for nearly two weeks. I'm ready for our 'usual' summer weather, which is sunshine with some rain showers for 20 minutes, at around 3:00 p.m. each day. When the rain stops, the sun comes right back out. Bring it on, please!!
We weren't hungry at Fisherman's Village, but an hour later we stopped in a little town, at Wendy's, for some chili and a frosty. We really enjoy their chili and (of course) the chocolate ice cream frosty.
I'll leave you with these photos I took, inside the shopping area at Fisherman's Village, a view of the Gulf of Mexico from the shopping area, and another at the gasoline station. Wishing you all a great weekend!! Peace, love & hugs.

I forgot to answer a question from yesterday's blog. Yes, there is flooding (not here, where we live) but all along the route home today, the ditches and little creeks were all overflowing. The fields were flooded and we talked about how sad it is for the farmers to have standing water in the fields. Kind of scary in places, actually, and we hydro-planed through some standing water a couple of times. Not fun.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful you and Joe are safe at home. The weather has been crazy everywhere this summer. I like Wendy's chili and frosty too! Rest and relax at home with the quiet kitties...:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI once owned a home in Northport which is close to Punta Gorda. I loved that area and remember visiting the Fisherman's Wharf and eating right by the water there. That was a good price on gasoline...I think the lowest here is 3.59. Glad you made it home safely and I hope this weather turns more like summer for all of us.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's not fun. I'm glad you and your hubby got home safely. I hope the stormy weather ends soon. I've seen the Gulf --- from the other side. hahaha
ReplyDeleteThe price of gas is coming down all over, but not fast enough. We're at $3.59 here, but 3 days ago it was $3.29. Now just because the calendar says July 4th, the oil companies say "we gotta raise that price so we can make more money when these families get on the road to vacations".... it's not right!!!
I love Wendy's frosty. I'd weigh 200 lbs. if I indulged that desire. :)
You have a restful weekend. ♥
Sure hope your weather improves. Summer has come to Madrid I think to stay. I always complain about how hot it gets, but our humidity levels are most usually very low, which makes the heat bearable.
ReplyDeleteThe cats are probably happy (except maybe Onyx) that things are quiet again. I think it's wonderful that Tristan still has friends from when he lived up North.
Glad you made it safely home. Crazy weather anymore. All of our nearby Wendy's closed. I just love their spicy chicken sandwiches. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSorry Joe got nearly soaked getting gas. We still need rain badly and wish it would move on this way. My hubby absolutely loves Wendy's chili. I don't think I have ever eaten it, if I have I don't remember it. I always eaten something else when he eats chili there.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful weekend sweet Terri. Hugs
It is raining here too Terri. sandie
