My Day Off!!
My day off started with a very loud weather radio alarm going off at 7:00 a.m. Tornado watch until 3:00 p.m., with heavy rain storms passing through! Wait a minute - this is game day!! Oh no!!
Well, Clearwater is an hour away, on the Gulf of Mexico, so we set out anyway. Traffic was good getting through Tampa, but we did hit some heavy rain a few times. When we arrived at the Brighthouse Field, we decided to pay for Valet parking, to save my knees and back. It cost us $20.00, which was $10.00 more than regular parking, but was well worth it to me! We crossed the street and were there!! Home of the Philadelphia Phillies Spring Training! The sun came out and not a drop of rain fell on us!
We both got a hotdog (Philly Dog - peppers, onions & brown mustard) and a bottle of water for our lunch. Later, I had to have a big soft pretzel (shaped like a P). We had GREAT seats, right by the Phillies dugout and with a clear view of the entire field. The stands look empty, but we were early. The place was actually nearly full when the game started. The Phillies won the game, 4 to 3! The Yankees played well, and I was happy to see Matt Diaz bat for the Yankees. He was a student at Santa Fe Catholic High School, back when I worked there as the Business Manager! He is from Lakeland!
We got home ahead of the Tampa rush hour, thank goodness. Went to Publix for groceries (I grabbed the list before we left). After we unloaded and put things away, Joe wanted Chinese for dinner, so we went to Peking House. My cooking-at-home record is now broken, to start again tomorrow! LOL
Here are some photos from the game, and I'll end it with two new photos from Gala. One is me in the "rabbit hole" and the other is from the "official" photographer. Not great, but good to keep! Hope you have had a good day! Wishing you a good Wednesday! Peace, love & hugs.

I'm glad you had a good time at the game. I used to be a Yankees fan, years ago. I still like to watch a good baseball game now and then but no special team. Hubby is football and golf. Do you know how much fun it is to watch a golf tournament on TV? Yawn....
ReplyDeleteAgain I'm glad the weather was good for the baseball game. I love ballgame hotdogs and pretzels too! Sometimes I order frozen pretzels from an Austrian frozen food company that I buy from. They're good too.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos, especially the one of you in the rabbit hole.
So glad the rain went away while you were at the game, and sounds like you had fun. Love the gala pictures. I have never been a fan of baseball and the only reason I can think of, is that it is too slow...lol My hyper personality cant sit still that long! Hope your Wed. is a good day.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I'm not a baseball fan either, but I had so much fun just watching people and seeing Joe enjoy the game. I love the creativity of the guys selling beer and ice cream through the stands. I am also amazed at how LITTLE the baseball players are - they look bigger on TV!! LOL
DeleteI'm glad you had good weather for the game. Wow you guys did have great seats! My hubby is a Phillies fan too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a baseball fan, not a sports fan really at all, but the hot dog and pretzel sure sound good!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time and the weather cooperated. Love the photos, you and your husband look great
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful, fun day. Glad you did not get rained on. Great pictures!! Hugs
ReplyDeleteGood you missed the big wind that blew through Tampa about lunch time.
ReplyDeleteYou and Joe had awesome seats! And can I just say the Philly dog sounded soooo yummy! I love the photos you posted!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun day! A good decision to use valet parking. Besides the so much needed comfort it is rather cool, isn't it? I only did it once, but it makes you feel a bit like a rich person handing the keys, leaving the car and not looking back.
