Our weekend...

We had a wonderful time this weekend, though it is always too short.  We arrived in Naples shortly after 1:00, yesterday, and were greeted by our grandson, his mom, Kathy, and his stepdad, Jim.  They always make us feel so welcome and wanted.

Kathy grilled burgers for a quick lunch, with fresh fruit on the side.  We spent the afternoon catching up.  We don't have any trouble talking!  LOL

The 'boys' left for the sports-themed fundraiser at 5:30.  Kathy and I went to a Thai restaurant for our dinner, and it was delicious!  We sat and talked and ate and talked some more.  We expected the guys to be home by 8:30 or so, but they had such a good time that they didn't get home until after 9:00.  Joe said there were probably 200 people there, and that the program was very interesting.  Jim won two silent auction items, and also won an autographed photo in a "Chinese" raffle.  They enjoyed the dinner, and the event hopefully gave the school enough money to create a first-class softball field, or at least get it started.

We left this morning, around 10:00, after a wonderful breakfast of French Quarter (mix) beignets, fresh fruit and cereal - and plenty of coffee.  Joe and I arrived in Lakeland shortly after 1:00, having stopped only once for gasoline.  We went to Anna's Diner for some lunch, before actually getting home.  While there, an old client of Joe's came in and had to stop by the table to talk.  He has a new business venture, and we think will be calling Joe about it.  He had dessert sent to our table!  That was a nice surprise!

When we got home, I got the laundry started, and only have one load left to do.

There are no photos of the event, first because the guys just don't think about taking photos, and second because getting a photo with the sports celebrities was one of the silent auction items, so they weren't allowed to snap photos with them.  Sorry that there are not photos to share of our weekend.

Back to work tomorrow.  I hope you have all had a good weekend, and I wish you a good week ahead!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  3. It does sound like you had a very nice weekend. I know when I try to do the catch-up with one of my daughters, the time just flies by so fast and it's never enough.
I think it's great that the school does a function like that for a big project like the softball field. Around here they just raise our taxes.
    You have a good day.

    1. Seacrest is a private school, Carol, so taxes don't get spent there. It is funded by tuition and donations/grants, etc.
