Monday, Monday...

Whew, what a day.

Work was a bit crazy.  I had a plan for the day that quickly got torn apart so I could work on other things.  Oh well.  I at least got payroll done!

I FINALLY got in to see the orthopedic doctor today.  He looked at the MRI results, agreed that I must be in pain.  Stated that both knees would need to be replaced, but was vague about when that might happen (other than he didn't suggest they both be done at once).  He ignored my question about pain meds, drew fluid out of my left knee, gave me another shot of cortisone in the left, agreed that we could wait for an insurance company change, April 1st, to request the synthroid shot again (maybe a new company will approve it), and wants to see me then (April 8).  I already have relief in my left knee. Praise God!  I will complain that, after standing on the marble floors for several hours Saturday night, my lower back has been screaming.  The doctor said knee pain can cause back problems, because of favoring and not walking normally.    Sitting on an ice pack right now.  Getting old ain't for sissies!

Tomorrow, I have the day off to go with Joe to Clearwater, to the Brighthouse Field, to see the Phillies play the Yankees.  FUN!  Rain is predicted for morning.  I pray that it passes, and the game will be played under a blue sky!!  I dug my Phillies t-shirt out to wear.

The "official" Gala photos have not all been downloaded yet, so I'll hold them for another day.  I'll get some baseball photos tomorrow!  We'll be right by the Phillies dugout!!

Have a good Tuesday!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Oh you poor thing! The knees issue sounds so painful. I hope you can get relief. And you're so right, that getting older ain't for sissies! I think things started slanting slightly downhill at 50, then turned nearly perpendicular at 60. :-(

    Many blessings, Terri.

  2. We old beauties (I was going to say bats) still can blog without being too much of a pity-party for ourselves. I am glad you explained the back pain. One of the reasons I only go out to walk 2x a day is that it seems to strain my lower back and even my buttock muscles complain. 30 minutes is the most I can handle before planning to sit for 15 minutes, before making lunch or doing another activitiy.

  5. At least you got in to see the doctor even if he didn't tell you anything you didn't already know. Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is good for the baseball game.

    1. Brenda, we leave in about 30 minutes, and it is raining here. Hope that means it has moved away from the coast, which is where we are headed.

  6. So glad you got to see the doctor and that he has given you some relief. I am sure all ortho docs are different, but I had a super duper one that suggested I have both of mine done at the same time and after much prayer and talk, I agreed and did have it that way, and have never been sorry. I stayed in the hospital 3 days, went to a rehab hospital for a week, with major physical therapy and then home. At home I had physical therapy for 5 weeks from the home health agency my daughter worked for(3 times a week), and again, have never been sorry for my decision. One surgery is better than having it twice. It isn't something easy to recover from and I know lots of folks that had one done and never went back for the other because of the effort and pain that surgery was. I will say this tho, and some may not believe it, but I never prayed as hard in my life, and I can stand today and say, God truly answered my prayers. I will pray for and with you for your decision and know your doctor knows whats best for you. You will glad when it is all over...promise. Sending hugs and love your way.

  7. and p.s. your back is definitely involved due to the way you walk and stand, so understand the back pain too.

    1. Thanks for the advice, Linda. My biggest concern is getting back to work. Seems like I could work from a wheel chair... I don't have 5 or 6 weeks of sick leave, so three days in the hospital and a week of intensive therapy - okay, but I would have to get back to work. I know they get you up and walking quickly. I was only out two weeks when I had my hysterectomy - and they said six weeks to recover. ????

  8. I'm so sorry you are going through all of this with your knees. I have several friends and family members who have had knee problems and I pray that I never have this issue. Keeping you in my prayers! I saw the highlights of the Yankee/Philly game and I was thinking of you and Joe!

  9. Two knees in one go..., that is daring. I always understood they'd do one and then the other. I hope your insurance will be okay with everything, I can only imagine how painful it must be right now, it is a good thing the shot will help for a while.
