Finally Friday....

It's finally Friday, but that also makes it the last day of November.  I sincerely don't know where this year has gone.  Each one goes faster and faster.  Slow down!!!

Joe and I have plans to go to Sam's Club after work.  He has a prescription ready and there are a few things we need to get, that we like to buy there.  I also need to gas the car, and Sam's usually has the best price in town.

Tomorrow (Saturday), we may pop in on an estate sale.  I get a notice from a company that does estate sales for people.  They go into a home (or business) and put prices on everything, then open the house to the public.  Friday, prices are full price, cash and carry.  Saturday, anything left goes 50% off, also cash and carry.  The estate that is listed today and tomorrow, is in a wealthy section of Lakeland, in an area where I will just be happy to see the inside of the house!  If we find a bargain, that would be a plus.  Joe is interested in this one, for some reason, so I'll take advantage of that and we'll see what is left when we get there!  A few years ago, we bought a refrigerator for the garage (for beverages & over-flow) for $50.00!!  Bargains are possible.

I decided to host my "girls" Christmas luncheon this year.  It's past my turn.  My "girls" group of girlfriends are all retired or not working, and don't have to take time off to hostess, but I need to take my turn.  I asked for Friday, December 14th off, and so far it looks like it is a go.  I need to decide what to make, but it will be fun for me.

Last year, I didn't bake one Christmas cookie.  I was really into Weight Watchers and doing well, and we didn't have company coming to help eat them.  In previous years, I would make five or six kinds of cookies.  This year, I want to be able to give cookies away, so am planning to bake five or six kinds again, and bought trays to use for gift giving.  The dollar stores are great places to find inexpensive cookie tins and trays!!  I also purchased gift bags there too.  We like the store called DEAL$ here in Lakeland.  They have a great variety of merchandise and food items for ridiculously low prices.

Not sure what else we will get into this weekend, but (as usual) it will have to include some cleaning and laundry time.  I hope to finish my Christmas cards, too.  Joe got stamps for me this week, so I have no excuse

Wishing you a good Friday evening and weekend ahead!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I love Christmas cookies. I used to bake several, like you, plus 2 or 3 kinds of fudge. Then as the family grew and moved out, the sweets just laid here and guess who ate it. So I quit that. Hope you have a great weekend.

  2. Hope you find something interesting at the sale. Tomorrow I'm going to one of our Christmas fairs. Hope to find some interesting gifts there.
I had a laugh when I read you needed to gas the car! Sounded like you were going to kill it. Poor car!

  3. Love your background, first of all. Estate sales are fun and hope you can find a bargain to buy. You are lucky that Joe goes for that type thing and goes with you. I would have to tie Jim up, put tape on his mouth to get him to even ride in the car to one, and I love them....lol Have a good weekend.

  4. Would love to attend the estate sale with you - this time of year we don't get any around here.

Christmas cookies? I'm with Carol, I can't bake them anymore with no one here to eat them. Even when the kids arrive, 2 of them are on special diets. I may make a few...will also make fudge.

  5. I can't beleive how fast the year has gone either. I agree with you that they seem to get faster with every passing one.

I like the sound of your estate sales. We don't have anything like that here. I hope you have fun and find a bargain.

  7. Hope you find some bargains at the Estate sale.

I always make cookies for gifts. I buy cookie tins and put names on the tins. If they want cookies for the next year they need to return the tin so it can be refilled. No returned tin = no cookies. They always get returned. lol Then I keep a few for those last minute unexpected needed gifts.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. Terri, that's a great idea to get the trays from the dollar store. Good luck with the cookie making. I'm hoping the grandsons will come out and that will motivate me to do some Christmas baking. Otherwise, I would just eat it by myself - and I don't need that! :-)
