I'm "tickled" because today, there are two carloads of staff going to Orlando, to see the Orlando Museum of Art's Festival of Trees. We did a Festival of Trees here, for five years, then volunteers lost interest. It's time to review it as a fund raiser for us, and get it back on our schedule. Orlando has been doing it for 26 years, and their event is beautiful and quite successful. It will be fun to get out of the office today!

Our Christmas decorations are going up in our downstairs galleries. This Thursday kicks off our holiday events here at Polk Museum of Art. We have our Gems & Jewels Holiday Artist Market, which goes all day, followed by a Holiday Vintage Soiree, from 6:00 - 8:00. Hoping for good steady traffic throughout the day. We have jewelry and craft artists setting up to sell their creations, and there will be food and wine during the soiree.
I totally forgot to post the photos from our Church's Rummage Sale last weekend. I went back to the Parish Hall before Mass and snapped a couple of photos. There was furniture around the sides, which doesn't show up here. After taking three car-loads of stuff to them last week, I think a good chunk of this stuff was ours! LOL I haven't heard a report on how they did, but it has always been successful in previous years. Leftovers go to the migrant workers, and other charities.
Wishing you a good Tuesday! Peace, love & hugs!!

Festival of Trees sounds really neat. That's a lot of stuff at Rummage Sale. I bet they made tons of money. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI checked out your link and enjoyed the slideshow. Looking at your photos of the rummage sale, I'm sure I would have found something there to buy, and, who knows, it might have been something you donated! The Christmas bazaars are about to begin. As a matter of fact, there's one this weekend, but it's one I don't usually attend because of the crowds and they charge an entrance fee. That's the American Women"s Club - probably some of the same people who organize Thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant where I used to celebrate my birthday.
ReplyDeleteHope you get some photos of the Gems and Jewels to do in your museum. Would you be permitted to dislplay your creations if you wanted?
I love the Festival of Trees events and hope you can get it back. I would have been a buyer at the rummage sale too....those are my favorite places to shop! Looking forward to pictures from the gems and jewels show.
ReplyDeleteThe Festival of Trees sounds like quite a spectacular event. I hope it's very successful this year.♥
ReplyDeleteOur local YW has a festival of trees and it's always so beautiful. I hope yours will be a success.
ReplyDeleteIt's a festive time of year, that is for sure! Looks like the museum does the holidays up right!
