Thanks to our hostess, Crazy Sam, for today's questions! I had to go in "the back door" to get this, so I don't have a link or her banner to share. Anyone else having a problem?
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions; however, here are today's questions!
Saturday 9: Mystical Magical (2025)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This week's song is about a new love affair, and Benson Boone bounces between frustration and optimism when he thinks about it. Does anything inspire mixed emotions in you these days? I don't have mixed emotions about anything that comes to mind right now.
2) The lyrics mention "moonbeam ice cream," which is something Benson just made up. Last summer, when this week's song became popular, ice cream shops were inspired to create flavors with that name. What's your favorite ice cream flavor, and will you take that in a cup or cone? I will always choose something chocolate first, but I also like butter pecan. I prefer a cone and even do a cone at home (no dish to wash), but a cup or bowl is also fine.
3) He sings that "once you know" about a love like this, "you know." Tell us about something you had to experience to fully understand. The loss of a spouse, who was also your best friend and constant companion.
4) He composed this song at the piano. Do you play piano? No. Wish I had stuck with those lessons!!
5) He first sang in public at a high school talent show, which he only entered on a dare. Can you recall any dares from your junior high or high school days? I worked in an ice cream parlor during a couple of high school summers. The owner's daughter dared me to spill a sundae in someone's lap (not a favorite person). I did it, apologized to him profusely, and she had to give me $5.00. Yes, I really did it. He was a jerk (and I was too, since I did that), but I did it. $5.00 was a lot of money back then in the 1960s.
6) Benson was a good high school athlete and competed in diving at the state level. Can you execute a dive off the diving board? Not from the high dive!
7) When he was 18, Boone auditioned for American Idol. What were you up to when you were 18? The summer after graduation, I was cleaning rooms at a local motel and getting ready for a year of business college and a wedding.
8) Benson has a dog named Max. He's not alone in this. "Max" is one of the most popular pet names in the US today. Have you ever known anyone (furry or otherwise) named Max? We had a cat named Max. This picture was taken in 2001.
Thanks for your visit!!

I haven't had an ice cream cone in a while. Now you make me want one! I guess I need to go some cones. (and ice cream!) And yes, if you knock on my door unexpectedly you will find me in my comfy knit capris and a t-shirt, most likely with speckles of bleach or tea stained, as that is what I wear at home because I am always dribbling something on them! LOL. Max: That brings back a story of a relative of ours in Michigan when we lived there, who had a Schnauzer named Max. We had a Brittany Spaniel named Brittany. Max didn't like Brittany, and long story short they got into a fight, and Brittany bit Max, but Max started the fight when Brittany was tied up outside and couldn't get away. The relative was not happy with our Brittany, but it was her Max that started it and caused the problem. Brittany was only defending herself. It created tension between us for a while. So that's what I think of when I hear the name "Max". Max wasn't a pleasant dog with any humans either, except his master. I guess that wasn't really a short story...lol. I hope you have a lovely weekend. Your Max kitty cat was beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteIf one would knock on my door, you would find me in pj's, LOL. Just keeping it real. After we come in from the pool, no sense in getting fully dressed, just saying and usually on the weekends, if we can't get in the pool or go anywhere, again, you find me in pj's. Yes on #3...the loss of a loved one especially a spouse or a child. Just devastating. Wishing you a beautiful day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteWe used to dog sit for a Corgi named Max years ago. I think that is quite the common name when it comes to pets. I do love ice cream, but don't indulge in it very often. Have a blessed week, Terri! With family coming, I won't be making my usual rounds.
ReplyDeleteOh my Terri, that was a bold dare! lol
ReplyDeletePerfect hymn for today!
ReplyDeleteNo dogs or cats named Max here, but we have a nephew named Max! :)
I'm not an ice cream lover, but if I have it, it needs to have some chocolate in it. I love your ice cream story... Who would have thought it? But it made me laugh!
A bold dare I took when I was a freshmen in HS, there was a senior jock that all the girls liked and I had a crush him. Never met him. He was sitting in the senior bleacher section during a rally. My girlfriends dared me to walk across the gym floor over to Him. I decided to go for it, plus it made for a lot of laughs! So I walked to the senior section, and climbed the bleachers up and plopped myself next to him. He was shocked, my friends were shocked and I was shocked. Fun times!
ReplyDeleteI always choose chocolate ice cream, I've never butter pecan, that sounds good! Eesh to you spilling the ice cream on someone but at least you made a little money from it.
ReplyDelete#1 Yes, I have mixed emotions and often need to ask the Lord to help me handle things with good character.
ReplyDelete#2 Vanilla is my favorite.
#3 You said it well. That’s exactly how I have felt about it, too.
#4 Nope.
#5 Wow.
#6 Nope.
#7 My family moved from Oklahoma to Colorado when i was 18; met my late husband that summer.
#8 Not sure I’ve ever known a Max in person.
#9 Shorts, T-shirt, and sandals.
ice cream sounds so good right now! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I'm giggling so hard about that ice-cream sundae 'spill'! Did he accept your apology?
ReplyDeleteHey, if it was butter pecan I'd have been licking it all off my clothes.
Happy CATurday!
Your story is funny. I like chocolate too and chocolate raspberry truffle from Brusters.
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I love ❤️ the photo of Max. I like chocolate and I like ice cream 🍦 but being pre-diabetic for about 10 years now, I rarely have either. Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.
