May 13th: The Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 653

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's one piece of advice you would give to a recent or soon-to-be graduate?  Do what you love, and love what you do, but keep your people in your life, always.  Make time for the people in your life because life is precious, and it goes by fast.

2. May 15th marks the birth date of L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. At this point in time, are you more in need of brains, courage, heart, or a trip back home? Explain.  I can always use more wisdom.  No real explanation, but there is always something new to learn.

3.  "There's no place like home" is an oft-repeated line from Baum's book. When was the last time you felt the truth of that statement?  LOL... when I was stuck in O'Hare Airport and wondered if I would ever get home from there (but, I did!!).  That was last July.

4. May is National BBQ Month...do you own a grill? Yes. Who does the grilling at your house?  No one does the grilling at my house unless I have guests who want to do the honors. What's your favorite thing to throw on the grill?   I'm not sure I know how to make it work.  Hot dogs taste best when they are grilled. What's the last thing you grilled? I don't remember the last thing that was cooked on my grill.  I think Jim (Elaine & Jim) grilled for us three years ago, or so, when they were here visiting.  Grilling was Joe's thing.

5. What's a memory you replay in your head when you need a little joy?  I have so many wonderful memories that continue to warm my heart. Most of them include Joe and the boys, but I have great friends and family memories that also bring me joy.  I am blessed beyond measure!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am writing this Tuesday night, and it is RAINING!!  We've had rain falling for about 45 minutes.  I sure hope it continues through the night (but not according to the radar).

Peace and Hugs!

“A heart is not judged by how much you love,
but by how much you are loved by others.”
L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

  3. I sure hope you get all the rain you need in FL, Terri. It's been dry here, too. That closing quote from Mr. Baum is a winner. Blessings!

  4. I can't imagine being stuck in an airport. Ugh. Would definitely make me ever so grateful for home (and maybe make me second guess traveling again....at least, for a long time!)

  5. We've been stuck in that same airport before and you are so right - it makes us thankful to get home!!

  6. Dear Terri, being stuck in an airport would be horrible! This makes me glad I don't travel! I have been stuck in the Montreal metro, though, but only once, thankfully, and not for long.
Being stuck anywhere is never a good thing. I hope you will get some rain, dear friend.

  7. We welcomed rain here, too, late Tuesday afternoon. Our rain gauge says we got one full inch. Grateful for that; hoping for more as we move into the rainy season later this month.

  9. That is fantastic advice for a graduate and that is so true, there is always something new to learn. I hope the rain continued for a little while longer, we have had rain and hail here today. It has been quite chilly.

  10. I don't necessarily say so, but every time I pull in my driveway it feels like "there's no place like home." Like your Joe, Tom does all the grilling (provided someone remembers to buy charcoal). Unfortunately, I wouldn't have the first clue how to BBQ -- and have no real desire to learn.
