Autumnal Equinox
Monday, September 22, is the Autumnal Equinox, the first day of the Autumn season.
Autumn is the name of the season and fall is the term for the time of Autumn when leaves begin to fall from the trees. Let's discuss it.....
1. Are there pumpkins or chrysanthemums on your porch or are you planning on putting some out? There are no decorations on my poor little excuse for a porch, but I did hang an autumn wreath on the door, and there are a few pumpkins, goblins, and ghosts placed around in the house.
2. Are stores around you showing Autumn clothing and decor now? Here in New Jersey, leaves on some trees are changing slowly and temperatures are way down . What is it like in your neck of the woods? I don't shop in the stores much, but yes, there are holiday decorations all around the shops in our Lakeside Village shopping area. It is still in the 90s and humid here in central Florida. It won't be Fall here until mid-October, maybe. BUT... when the northerners are shivering and shoveling snow, we will be loving our weather!!
3. Do you have plans for Thanksgiving yet? No plans other than knowing I will be roasting a turkey and will have a house filled with friends, if not family. I love hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas. Come on down!!
4 . If we can arrange an autumn trip or get away for you, where would you choose to go and why? A trip up through the Blue Ridge Mountains to see the colors would be nice, but I'm not planning a trip again anytime soon.
I can imagine that Thanksgiving at your house would be wonderful and delicious!! Your friends/family are blessed to have you to be their hostess with the mostest! And yes, when the folks up north are shivering and shoveling, we will be enjoying the best weather there is! We are blessed to live in Florida, at least in the fall/winter/spring months! I wouldn't mind going somewhere cooler in the summer, but lately it seems they have had hotter weather than us, so I think I'll stay here and enjoy my AC! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteI haven't decorated yet either. Just can't get in the mood. I guess it's because it's so hot and dry at the moment. Maybe I'll do it later.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what we'll do for the Holiday's yet either. It seems like we just went through this. I'm kinda tired of the whole thing at the moment. That'll probably change as the weather cools.
Blessings. ❤️
Be quiet about that shivering and shoveling! The leaves here are starting to change, some bright red on the maple, and the fields and brush out in the back are stunning. It's rainy and cozy today, and I love it. But once those trees get bare naked, it's coming and there's nothing we can do about it...ugh. :). Thanksgiving at your house sounds wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have mums on the porch but really need to get going on the rest!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'll be up here shivering and shoveling! :)
Love your new background!
ReplyDeleteI'm so far behind, it's not even funny. Like Florida, we're still too warm to bring home a live pumpkin or pot of mums. On the other hand, shopping for an Autumnal wreath sounds like it belongs on my To-Do list.
We don't do any decorating for fall or Halloween here, Terri. When the kids were young, of course, we went all out - LOL! I'll be Thanksgiving at your house is always warm and welcoming. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas and Thanksgiving too. If I could I would certainly 'come on down' for a visit with you!! Happy Fall.
ReplyDeleteI love this season but I don't really decorate for it. Not many people do decorate their porches for the season here which seems a real shame.
ReplyDeleteA trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains does sound wonderful, seeing all of the colours.
Although Florida is slow to exhibit anything "autumn", the craft shows start up and I enjoy wandering through those.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri: I enjoyed your answers. We are still having summer weather here.
ReplyDeleteI am not planning any trips either. It doesn't really cool off here until October either. Loved your answers! Have a nice week!

It is so hard to think of fall when it's still hot here in Florida. Maybe I'll put out my pumpkin sign. Our stores already have Christmas decorations up!
ReplyDeleteI do like decorating for Fall in the house bc there is little to remind me of it outside yet! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! I do like decorating though Christmas is my fav.
