September 17th: The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thank you, Joyce, for today's questions!  Y'all can join in by clicking HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 620

From this Side of the Pond

1.  Are you more the life of the party or more the party pooper? If your answer is somewhere in the middle, which side of the middle do you lean towards more?  I put myself in the middle, but which side I lean more toward depends on who the guests are, what is being celebrated, etc.  I am more animated when I know at least a few of the people, less so if I am among strangers.

Birthday party, beach party, cocktail party, dinner party, charity fundraiser, surprise party, costume party, garden party, Christmas party, reunion...what's your favorite kind of party?  I am up for all but those I crossed out.  I can't take much sun anymore, I rarely have a drink, and I don't care to dress up in a costume.  I am up for any of the others!!

2. Cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar all improve with age. What would you personally add to the list?  Friendships, and ME perhaps!! LOL

3. How do you feel about your birthday? How do you want to be celebrated? Or don't you?  Birthdays (mine included) should be celebrated and celebrated well!  Just a card or an acknowledgement works for me these days.  I wouldn't say no to cake and ice cream!!  🎂🍦 Joe always celebrated me well, and I miss that (and him)!!  Just a note that my son, Jeff, will be here for my birthday this year!!  Yippee!!

4. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily your same birth year, just the same date/month.

On December 11th, Indiana became a U.S. state in 1816; Martin Luther King Jr. accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964; and the first transatlantic radio signal was transmitted in 1901.  I share my day with actress Rita Moreno and (according to AI) many other famous people whom I've never heard of.

5. Share two good things about your life right now.  Just two?  I'm thinking of wonderful family and friends, as well as my health.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I've been enjoying a detective show on PBS called Professor T.  He teaches criminology at a university and consults with the police on murder investigations, but it is mostly about relationships between the characters, and is well done.

Peace and Hugs!
Celebrate your birthday!

Jeremiah 1:5 states, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," while Psalm 139:13 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb". These verses emphasize God's intimate knowledge of individuals before their birth and His intentional, personal involvement in their creation.

  2. I haven't watched Professor T, but will look for that one. I like a costume party as long as I have settled on a great costume. I'm not always good at coming up with one.I don't think I replied to your message about the July wedding, but we'll plan on it! Have a great day!

  3. I prefer smaller gatherings with people I know. I agree with you on the ones you crossed out - not for me either
I'm going to have to look for Professor T. Sounds like a good one!

  4. I so enjoy smaller gatherings rather than large ones, and birthdays should always be a cause for celebration. Blessings, Terri!

  5. "The first transatlantic radio signal was transmitted in 1901." With all the tech savvy we have now, this probably seems small, but at the time, it must have been absolutely HUGE to discover how to communicate that way. Just the beginning of so much more!!!

  6. I can't say I am the life of the party, but I am not a party pooper either. I like cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar too. My dear brother's birthday was December 11, and my sister's twin's birthday is December 11. Good day.

  7. I'm happy to have left parties in the rear-view mirror, but would never say "no" to a small gathering of like-minded friends.
I'm going to check out that TV show!

  8. I look forward to my birthday each year but we rarely do more than have lunch out--just right! Crowds are hard for me--I can take a big gathering for a bit--especially if it's family!

  9. I am not sure if I am a party pooper, but I prefer to be in the background and quiet. If this is considered to be a party pooper, then voila. :) I enjoy my birthday each year but I don't do much more than just enjoying a meal out in a restaurant with a close friend.

  10. The more I know the other guests, the more animated I become, too. My introvert feelings come out full tilt when I'm in a group of strangers. A party of strangers would probably rank close to the top on my list of things I loathe. I enjoyed your answers, Terri. I hope you're having a great week!

  12. That is a good point, it depends on who the guests are when it comes to how I feel at a party. I am more of a party pooper when I am among strangers.
Yes to celebrating birthdays, that is wonderful Jeff will be with you on your special day!
