Monday Musings on June 9th...

Mondays... they do get here quickly.

I wrote about Miller's Ale House with my Mas Verde dinner group in my Friday post.  On Friday, I did some spot cleaning.  A little dusting, vacuuming, and spot mopping.  I finished hemming three pairs of slacks and am happy with my fix.

I had three more pairs to hem, made in a different fabric.  I pinned up the first pair and tried them on.  I forgot that they were purchased long enough ago that they are now too big.  I've not posted about weight loss because, when I do that, I feel like I sabotage myself.  That said, I've lost 43 pounds since September (almost a year).  Those three pairs of slacks nearly fell off.  It felt good, but what a waste!  I bought them when I was going to Ohio in October for my nephew's wedding.  The pair that I wore to the wedding was hemmed with safety pins.  Now they will be donated, and I didn't have to hem them!!

I cleaned out FIVE junk drawers in my kitchen on Saturday.  Five.  They didn't really have junk in them, but they were so stuffed with things that I didn't know what I had or which drawer to look in.  I think we all have doodads that are used only once or twice a year.  I have A LOT of those doodads!  I sorted, purged, and found a new place for those things I don't need daily/weekly.  The drawers look good now, and life feels much more organized when I open one of them.

Our Pastor is on sabbatical for the summer, so we had our first substitute yesterday.  He is an Assistant Pastor at a church over in St. Petersburg.  I enjoyed his style.  He was different from Pastor Dave, but we will be exposed to that all summer.

We have four new babies in our church family!  Little Hallie Mae is having surgery for hip dysplasia tomorrow.  She will be in a full-body cast for 12 weeks.  Please keep her and her parents in prayer.  Changing her diaper can take an hour.  I can't imagine.  Bless them.

Today, I truly am starting the painting job in my bathroom. My calendar is open until dinner with my MV friends on Thursday, so this is the perfect week to get to it.  With that said...  Cheers!!

Oh... I want to share a recipe with you that I tried on Saturday.  When I cook, I know it will last me for at least two meals, if not three or four.  This is the first time I tried a "sheet pan" meal in the oven.  I changed the recipe by adding a layer of fresh spinach. I had golden potatoes, so I used them, and my package of chicken thighs had five thighs.  It wasn't quite done at 30 minutes, so I kept it in for another 15 minutes, and it was perfect. I did have corn-on-the-cob with it after church yesterday, and will probably do that again today, since I have more corn to use.

I took this picture after I ate one helping on Saturday.

Peace and Hugs!

All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

  1. Congratulations on the wonderful weight loss! I know you feel much better and you look wonderful!! It's a shame to have to give away good clothes that no longer fit, but what a blessing to be able to do so! Someone will appreciate them, I am certain! Oh, I hope you manage to get your bathroom painted this week! I will be cheering you on from here! And that chicken/potato dish looks wonderful! I love easy meals that can be done in one pan! Oh, that poor child with the hip dysplasia surgery...I can't imagine being in a body cast for so long...especially a baby! And changing diapers...oh my! Praying for that whole family! Praying the surgery will be a success and it will be worth all the temporary pain and suffering. I hope you have a wonderful week of painting and enjoying your organized drawers! LOL!

  3. Losing weight is a wonderful thing, getting rid of clothes that are too big is so satisfying, especially versus the opposite. Your chicken pesto potato dish, oh mmm! Junk drawers, how does that happen? It's a good feeling to have those organized, love it. Have fun painting the bathroom, at least it's small, though I wish I could send Char and Cam down for a few days, they're experts. :).

  4. You had a great weekend! I'm so proud of you about the weight loss. It's certainly not easy.
I love cleaning things out, when you open the drawer after you're done, it's such a good feeling.
Your meal looks so good. I love sheet pan meals.
    Hope that painting goes well.

  5. Well done on the weight loss! I'm SO proud of you! I know how hard it is. I've lost 45+ lbs since 2019 or so. It's been slow. Much safer that way. Staying away from sugar & carbs with intermittent fasting is what helped me. Now that I'm older I can't eat veg's (IBS) and am nearly completely carnivore. No more IBS. *whew!* For me it feels so much better. Keep up the good work!
The meal sounds really good. I may go thaw out some chicken to have something like that tonight. Such a good idea.
Wanna come paint our place? *giggle* Hope it all goes well and quick.
    Blessings. 💖

  6. I hope the painting goes well! The bathroom is a smaller room but there is a lot of wall 'interruptions' to slow you down!
