Friday Focus on June 5th...

Looking back a few days...

I saw my dermatologist on Tuesday, and she found nothing to cut out!  A blessing, for sure!

On Wednesday, I got my hair cut and talked to Laura about whether I should try a perm.  My hair has lost a lot of its curl, possibly because of weight loss and/or the MRI I had earlier in May.  Who knows, but it is not as curly now.  She said to stop using conditioner and that she will get me a gel for curly hair that might help it curl again.  I hate messing with my hair!!  Patience.

Yesterday, the dinner group went to Miller's Ale House, and we had a nice time, as always.  Sharon and Larry picked me up, and Sandy and Bob brought me home.  I am so blessed by wonderful neighbors.  I tried something different last night and got lobster ravioli.  It was good and I brought some home to have today!

Yesterday, I did some sewing and got three pairs of slacks hemmed.  I still have three more to do today.  I fall between "tall" and "regular" for pant length.  I also have two tops I need to alter a bit.

Looking ahead to the weekend and week ahead, I don't have anything but church on the calendar through next Sunday!  That seems like a good time to stir up the paint, get my bathroom painted, and then get that back room cleaned up, and reorganized with painting gear put back in the shed.  Yes!!  Stay tuned.

Thanks for your visit!!  Wishing you a blessed weekend and week ahead!

Peace and Hugs!

Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light:
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

  1. Good friends certainly make a difference in life, don't they? I am blessed to have good friends, too. I have several sewing projects I need to get at. I have an 'animal hospital' upstairs where all the pups' toys go-some are amputees-some need their guts restored-some are earless...lol. Scruffy never chewed up his toys. Coco thinks every toy has inner workings she needs to explore. lol. Have a wonderful, wonderful week, Terri. Happy sewing and painting. xo Diana

  2. I fall between short and regular pants, you just never know!
Glad you have good friends and neighbors and I know you are one to them too.
That is a favorite old hymn.

  4. Good things keeping you busy! I have the same trouble with pants-regular are too short and tall are too long---it's a good thing we know how to shorten them!!!

  5. Good friends are so important, Terri! Nice to see you busy with good things, dear friend. Today in Montreal they are saying that our air quality is very poor due to wildfires in the prairies. So the sky is white and it is very hazy. They are telling people that if they do need to venture outdoors to seriously limit their time out. I will get a grocery order to be delivered, because the Montreal bus and metro system are planning to strike beginning Monday.
Your post is like a breath of fresh air. Literally. Thank you so much for sharing.

  6. What a blessing, being able (and willing) to do your own alterations! My mother was similarly talented, but I missed that gene.
After months of procrastinating, I too, woke up all energized to clean up the multitude of needless 'stuff' that's been accumulating. You're the 3rd person to say so today ... maybe there's something in the air? (*grin*)

  7. Sometimes it's perfect not having any appointments on the calendar, Terri. Keep us updated about the painting. Blessings!

  8. Love the hymn's words you posted, "Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on ..." Some days I sing that, others I sing an old chorus, "My Lord knows the way through the wilderness...." Same basic thought. Can't do it without Him!

  9. Love that old hymn. Amen! Sounds like you've had a productive and pleasant week with good friends and also just relaxing time at home. I hope you are able to tackle that bathroom next week, but only if you really want to! And I love your pretty hair. I hope you can bring back the natural curl the way the hairdresser suggested. Perms tend to take away our natural curl and can be harsh on the hair. Since I quit having perms my hair seems to have more natural body and wave again. I hope you have a pleasant weekend.

  11. The lobster is so cute!! I've been amazed to learn how many people do not know how to hem or sew on a button. Look at you - doing actual alterations!!
