I had a very nice weekend, full of fun and wonderful memories! Picture overload...
Mayfaire by-the-Lake is a fine art festival that the art museum (where I worked for 20 years) does yearly on Mother's Day weekend. It is set up around Lake Morton (the bird lake) and features 170-180 artists. It is a juried show, and some nice prizes are given to the artists. When I worked there (retired 8 years ago), the prize money totaled $18,000.
Lots of fun art and lots of beautiful art...
Notice the white tents on the other side of the lake... The lake is one mile around, and the artists covered about 3/4 of the shoreline.
My dear friends and former co-workers at the Museum, Pal and Lisa! It was so fun seeing them. I am blessed to still be in touch with so many dear ones from my working days...
Wood carvings! So pretty. Look closely at the butterflies...
Another artist with carvings... the swan was $450! A bit out of my budget!
We were there for about two hours. It began to rain around 3:00.
The swans and ducks seem to take the chaos in stride...
The caution tape is around swan nests. It's that time of year...
Speaking of ducks... this artist used the yellow rubber ducky in all of her photos.
Another artist made art from mirrors. That's Sharon and me...
I liked this artist's work. I liked most of the artists...
Peace and Hugs!!

Aww Terri, this is a lovely post! Happy Anniversary! What a blessing you and Joe were to each other and also the boys to you and you to them.
ReplyDeleteThe art is so good! I would love to go to this show.
What a wonderful weekend. Love all the art and also the beauty of the lake.
ReplyDeleteMayfaire was so impressive, Terri!. Thanks for taking so many photos to share with us. Glad the rain held off long enough for you to enjoy it. Great photo, too, of you and Joe on your wedding day. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat art festival sounds fun. And the fact it's put on by your old employer is even better. I loved all the art too. l'm glad you pointed out the butterflies, I hadn't realized that's what they were. And the pictures that look like old maps - there's so much detail! My favorite was the palm tree and vw bug. Great wedding photo too!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since we enjoyed a nice art fair like this. If I had lots of room (and spending $), I'd have loved bringing home image #2 for my bathroom. Tom would have loved to see that artist's work from piano keys. So glad the rain held off long enough for you gals to enjoy.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) and "Happy Anniversary and Mother's Day" all in one, 40 years ago! Wow. What a blessing that God brought those special men into your life, and especially that the "boys" still are there for you and care for you. You are blessed indeed. Looks like the Mayfaire was really special, and so glad you didn't get rained out! Looks like a fun time. Love the swan t-shirt too! Love the animals from found items...that's so clever! People are so smart! Glad you had a good weekend. More (((hugs))).
ReplyDeleteSo many great artists out there that never get recognized.. A fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat was an interesting art and craft show - it had everything. I love the date May 11 - mine too.
ReplyDeleteI love the bundt pan turtle! How cute. Mayfair looks like it was lots of fun, just as it does every time you share it. I can't wait until the festivals get started up here. Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the rain held off for some of the show. It looks like a fun event that I would also enjoy. I'm glad you have wonderful memories of your lives together xo
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun. There's always so much to do in Lakeland, isn't there. I like the metal decorations. I'd have to take one of those home with me.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad y'all had such heartwarming memories with great photos. Sometimes when we lose precious loved ones that's all we have to hold to to keep from falling off the face of the earth.
Blessings. ❤️
