Friday Fotos...

Those are raindrops in my avatar's hair!  We are finally getting some rain!!  It is good because we really need it, but it's not so good for the Mayfaire artists this weekend.  I am going to Mayfaire Saturday morning with my friend Sharon... if it's not raining yet.

I don't have much to share this week, but here are a few photos...

When I went to the craft fair last weekend with my neighbor, Susan, I bought some Chow-Chow from a woman (it is very good!).  We talked about green tomato relish, which she had never heard of.  I told her my mom made it every year with the last tomatoes in Dad's garden, but I didn't have good luck when I tried making it 15 years ago.  She said if I would email her the recipe, she would give it a try.  I sent her this picture and she told me that she is already working on it.  I'm supposed to get some when it's ready!  Here is the recipe, in case anyone else is interested.

Speaking of tomatoes... I harvested these from my plants!!
I'm so excited that I grew these!!

I got an inexpensive security camera that covers my carport and front door.  No real reason, other than just curiosity, I guess.  Getting a doorbell camera won't work for me because my door is set in.  With this angle, I can see if anyone walked up to the door or walked through the carport.  It stores data for 30 days, and it is accessible on my phone.

My new neighbors, Sandy and Bob, went to dinner last night with our dinner group.  They want to be included each week.  Sandy is a retired registered nurse.  It's so great that they are so nice.  They have four kids and grandkids and are from New Jersey, where the kids still live.  Sandy and I are already Facebook friends.  Blessed!

Wishing you all a good weekend ahead!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Peace and Hugs!

Our God makes the harvest grow,
Let us praise his name.
He sends the rain to swell the seed,
Let us praise his name.

  1. Your harvested tomatoes look fantastic, Terri. I hope they taste as good as they look. Glad the new neighbors want to be included in the group's dinners on Thursday and that they are nice people. Happy Friday and have an enjoyable weekend!

  2. Wow! You already got those big tomatoes on your plant! That's amazing! I am so happy for you! Benton will be happy to know that the planter you bought is working! LOL. Oh, I hope the lady does make you some good chow chow stuff with green tomatoes. I know that is good! What a treat! I like the camera idea, and I'm sure you will appreciate having it, although I can't imagine anyone in your neighborhood being out of line...is your neighborhood gated? Maybe it's not gated, so I guess there's always that concern no matter where we live. I wish we'd had cameras that showed who knocked over our neighbor's mailbox! It was probably kids or a drunk/druggie. Sadly they are around us everywhere. Oh, my neighbor actually came home from the nursing home this week. Her daughter is there with her right now, but will have to leave Monday. So I'm praying God will help her because she really needs a lot of help. Oh, so glad you have some nice new neighbors and are making friends with them already. That's a real blessing indeed. I keep praying God will send someone special to that house next door to us. We need some good neighbors ! I hope your MayFaire doesn't get rained out, even if we do need the rain. The rain keeps bypassing us here for some reason. Maybe it will bypass you on Saturday and come back when the fair is over! That would be nice, huh? Have a good weekend. Blessings to you.

    1. No, we are not gated. We do have stragglers walking thru in the early morning hours. There have been a couple of golf carts stolen and if your car isn't locked, it might be searched. Not often. Hoping my surveillance signs will keep people moving.

  3. I don't recall ever hearing of chow-chow, but crossing my fingers your new friend makes it work the way you remember! Is that your mother's handwriting on the recipe card? Your homegrown tomatoes look wonderful ... way to go!

  4. How did you get tomatoes so quickly, Terri? Maybe, you have the green (or red) thumb you never thought you did! I do hope the rain holds off long enough for you to enjoy Mayfair tomorrow. Blessings!

    1. Martha, they were mature plants when I bought them. They have grown to 3 times the size and have buds all over them. It good potting soil for gardens. Growing season here is year-round mostly. I have been giving them a drink every morning and I tell them how happy they make me! LOL

  6. Whenever we dine at Cracker Barrel, I like to order cooked greens and ask for the Chow-Chow sauce. This has been a new, and most enjoyed, addition to my food loves since moving to the South.

How wonderful that your gardening efforts have produced such beautiful tomatoes!!
