Heart Like a Truck
Welcome to Saturday: 9. We've committed to our readers that we will post nine questions every Saturday. Sometimes, the post will have a theme, and at other times, the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks, we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
2) She says her heart runs on dreams and gasoline. What fuels you? Family and friends. My cats. A good TV show (still loving The Repair Shop right now!). I'm old and retired and run low on "fuel" often! LOL
3) Lainey sings that her heart has been "drug through the mud." The correct past tense of "drag" is "dragged," but in parts of our country, "drug" is sometimes used. Can you think of any other grammatically incorrect song lyrics? I can't get no satisfaction. (Rolling Stones)
4) She tells us her truck could benefit from being dusted off and shined up. Could your vehicle use a little TLC? My car is covered in pollen right now but the pollen isn't done falling so I'm not going to the carwash until it does. It will just look the same in a couple of days. Everyone around here has the same yellow/green colored car right now.
5) Before making it big in country music, Lainey supported herself by doing odd jobs, including appearing as a Hannah Montana impersonator for kids' parties. What's the most unusual job you've held? I don't know if it is really unusual (certainly not here in Florida with all the hotels), but I cleaned rooms in a motel the summer after I graduated from high school. It really wasn't a bad job. Small motel across from a 76 Truck Stop on Ohio's I-70. No vacationers, very few stay-overs, and mostly truck drivers (who didn't mess up the rooms at all). The work was usually done by 1:00 p.m.
6) In addition to singing, Lainey has acted, appearing in 5 episodes of the series Yellowstone. Are you a fan of the show? I've tried a couple of times to get past the second episode of Yellowstone and just can't get interested in it.
7) She loves Southern comfort food like mac and cheese and biscuits and gravy. What's on the menu at your place this weekend? I made a chicken and noodle thing yesterday that will feed me today as well. If there are still leftovers, I'll probably toss it. I get tired of eating the same thing over and over. If I freeze it, it will still get tossed later. It's what I do. I know.
8) In 2022, when this song was on the charts, Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Have you ever been to Scotland? No, but that is the one country I would love to visit. I have Scottish DNA (Cameron and Anderson) and have always felt drawn to Scotland, probably because of that!!
9) Random question – Let's pretend you're back in Kindergarten. Which of these would a young you prefer: a toy kitchen set, kid-sized gardening tools, or a mini trampoline? When I was in Kindergarten, I am sure I didn't know what a trampoline was. Maybe a toy kitchen set? My dad didn't have a garden back then for me to even know what a garden was. The trampoline would have been the most fun!

Oh, Happy Birthday to Joey!! And he will be stopping at Benton's tomorrow! If I knew when he was coming for sure I'd go sing to him. LOL. Maybe it's best I don't do that. LOL. You probably should be glad you didn't have a trampoline in kindergarten. You would probably end up with a broken leg or arm or head. LOL. They are not the safest of "toys". I would've likes the toy kitchen set too. We did have a little bake oven that actually baked little cakes. I can still remember the smell of the mixes that came with it. Sometimes I get a whiff of that same aroma when I open a box of cake mix and it takes me back to that. My sister Doris and I loved playing with that. It was actually hers, not mine, as she was older and more responsible, but we played with it together. Re: leftovers, yeah, I hear you. If we don't eat them up within 2 days they are trash. I try to freeze some, but I have limited freezer space and I forget they are in there and eventually they get trashed. I told Scott last time he was here that I miss him because he always cleaned up my leftovers. I usually load him down with whatever is still good when he comes to visit.
ReplyDelete"Alas, and did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?"
So thankful that yes, He did "devote that sacred head for such a worm as I!" Amen.
Have a lovely day!
Happy Birthday, Joey! I love both Lainey Wilson and that song, Terri. I hear you about motivation, too. Even when I have a good idea for my weekly blog, I have to make myself get up "offa that thing" and get to work. LOL! Have a blessed Saturday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Joey! I got somewhat motivated this morning because Megan came over and helped me clear off some bookshelves and organize all the containers of beads we have. Now I have to motivate myself to go finish the rest of the craft room. Ugh. Tim is like that with leftovers, too. Me? I will just eat them till they are gone. It's not the pollen here, but the fuzzy horse-taily things that fall off the giant hybrid Poplar tree in our yard. With all the rain and storms we've had this past week it's a MESS! We want it cut down but haven't been able to find anyone to do it. They give us estimates, but then never return calls or come back. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Joey!
ReplyDeleteI'm giggling about the leftovers, b/c Tom and I do the same thing. I'll never forget the time my former MIL prepared and froze a chicken casserole thinking she was doing Ron and I a big favor. Except on her next visit she discovered it right where she'd put it two years ago.
I just finished lunch so all my motivation's gone as well.
So glad I am not alone after all!
DeleteHappy Birthday Joey!!! Sigh, my husband won't eat leftovers, and I end up taking it for lunch/work. ANYWAYS, Wishing you a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteWe had a trampoline in school for gym class. Never really enjoyed it... but then again the teacher thought we should be able to do flips. Not my kind of fun.
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed the toy kitchen set. Hope you get the inspiration to paint that bathroom soon!
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Scotland, too!! I loved playing with the toy kitchen set that was in my Sunday School room back then!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Joey. Enjoyed your post Terri
