My sister, Patti, is getting her hair done this morning and her hubby, Greg, is out on a work errand (he works from home) so I thought I would post some photos from Monday and Tuesday while I have a little time...
Donna, in my Mas Verde community, helps out with airport runs, car deliveries, and many other needs that she hears about. She picked me up at 6:15 a.m. on Monday and got me to the Tampa airport in plenty of time to get bags checked and get to the gate for the first leg of my journey north. This was the animation on my seatback monitor. Tampa to Detroit. I only had a 30 minute layover, so was a bit worried when our flight was late taking off...
Finally moving...
Goodby Tampa
Flying over Lake Erie as we descended to the Detroit airport...
We stopped near my old hometown (Millersport) for some pizza before going to McConnelsville, where Patti and Greg live. As we were finishing and getting ready to leave, an old schoolmate came in so we had to talk for a bit. Judy Z. was a year ahead of me but we both played trumpet in the band.
Judy is on the left and I am on the right. This was Judy's senior year and my junior year.
She told me she played in a community concert band for a while,
but hasn't played much since then.
We got up Tuesday morning, had a good breakfast, talked, and talked some more. Patti and I had nail appointments with her nail person, so we left Greg working and took off for downtown McConnelsville...
Polish Me Pretty
McConnelsville, Ohio, is in south-central Ohio. It is on the Muskingum River and at the edge of the Appalachian Mountains. Beautiful countryside! The leaves are just changing a bit and they have had a drought this summer so ponds and lakes are below normal levels, but it is still pretty! The following are from the downtown area of McConnelsville...
This is Patti's side yard, with lots of leaves down.
Patti's front deck/porch. She has a green thumb (the one that passed me by...)
Patti and I went out and about on the way home from the orchard (photos out of order)...
(this picture made me think of blogging friend, Mari...)
The sign says "German Cemetary)
Patti knows how I love orchards and miss them in Florida. We were the only people there on that Monday afternoon...
The cat knew I was missing my boys. She let me pet her for a bit and
rubbed against my legs.
And they had my very favorite apple, the Cortland.
A metalsmith artist has a business in McConnelsville named David Griesmeyer. There are a few sculptures around town but the fish are the only ones I got a picture of. When you drive by them, they are positioned so that they look like they are swimming.
Patti and I went shopping and then we picked up Greg and went to a pizza buffet for dinner tonight (Tuesday). Patti knew four of the waiters and the owner because she taught them all. They all called her Mrs. Mc... Everyone knows her. LOL
Tomorrow (Thursday) we are going to our old hometown, Millersport, for some fun. More about that later.
Having a great time but thinking about my home, my pets, and all my friends in the path of Helene. Fingers crossed that it won't cause too much damage for anyone.
Hope everyone is well. I will catch up on reading, if not commenting, as soon as I can. xo
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow...

Oh, Terri, thanks for taking us on a tour through God's country with these photos. This part of Ohio is so enchanting, and I'm glad you are having such a great time with Patti. I'm also thankful that you aren't down in Florida to have to go through Helene. Up here in Georgia? Yes, we will feel the impact with rain and high winds. Danny and I will be staying in a local hotel for the next two days as we are surrounded by a forest and don't want to be here should a tree limb fall on the roof. Your prayers would be so appreciated!!!
ReplyDeleteHave the best vacation ever!
How fun to catch up with old friends and family. I hope you have a wonderful time and I'm praying for your home and pets and friends.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri! I was so happy to see this post!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you for catching your flight, that was a high stress 20 minutes.
I was enjoying your photos and got to the barn and thought, oooh I love that! Then saw your comment - you know me well.
Patti does have a green thumb. I missed that gene too. It looks like such a cute town.
Keep enjoying yourself!
So wonderful to hear from you. That looks like a beautiful place and part of Ohio I've not seen! Sounds like you are having a great time. I know it will be fun to visit your hometown. Have a good time and try not to worry about the storm. God is in control, and He will take care of everything and everyone. Just have a good time. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise to see your good news! (Aside from that plane transfer close call, that is!). Sweet 'postcard' photos from the road; and I'm glad you're making time for some self pampering. Enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, Terri!! Wow, good for you on that sprint through the airport!! This looks like such a good time.
ReplyDeleteYes, the weather is looking bad for Florida. Lisa and George evacuated. They are very low in Oldsmar where they live. Oh I PRAY their place doesn't flood. I'm going down for five days in October and I have been dreaming of sitting on her lovely lanai for over a year!! Well, isn't that a selfish reason for not wanting her place to flood? Forgive me, Lord.
I am glad you made your flight, Terri. What a wonderful assortment of pictures you have shared! I am praying for all in Florida and praying Helene will fizzle out or at least lessen in strength. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you made the flight! We are even getting hit by Hurricane Helene here in Marietta, GA. Can I say your photos of Ohio are just gorgeous - makes me miss the north a little bit. And your sister is precious and you two look alike except your hair color. Love the barns and bridges. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Mari's trip pictures with wonderful barns, and now I'm enjoying your pictures of Ohio. So homey, restful and beautiful. I'm glad you're having such a good time.
ReplyDeleteThus far at 4pm on Thursday, the hurricane has not done much here in Ocala. Just wind and an occasional rain shower.
So pretty. I like Ohio. Travel safe and hope the trip stays fun. 💙
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful area! The town looks so interesting. I need to get over that way one of these days. It looks like they are ahead of us with the leaves by a bit.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful... enjoyed the photos!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!!! I miss fall up north, truly I do. I am so glad you are having a great time, Terri. smiles
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip! I am so glad you made the plane and didn't have anything unexpected after that. I am so glad you got to see an orchard and all the wonderful Fall things that I used to miss when I lived in FL. Praying all is well in your community after the hurricane went through. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful town. I love those metal fish!!! I have been thinking about your home and your pets this week. I hope everyone is ok.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are so pretty, Terri. I am glad you are having fun and hopefully all is well at home. It seems like you should be. I know you miss your kitties. I almost hate to travel because I miss ole Gus.
