Friday Fotos (my last day at work)...

Happy and sad.

Working for Florida Fish and Wildlife at the Tenoroc Public Use Area has been a three-year adventure. I've met wonderful people and had just the best job for me (no stress). It has also allowed me to get into a better financial place so that I can move forward and be retired again. God is so good.

My co-workers had a cook-out for me at our Derby Lake Pavillion.  Norman grilled burgers and hotdogs, others brought coleslaw, various chips, baked beans, and a beautiful cake.  I got three cards signed with sweet words and was told, over and over, that I would be missed. My boss made a speech and said I was a blessing when I came there and that this is a sad day for them, but happy for me.  I did my best to not sniffle a little.

One of the "big bosses" from our Regional Office also came.  It was a nice surprise.  When Danon (my boss) was out for his surgery, Jennifer and I worked well together and it was nice to get to know her better.

I am a "cat lady" but also love dogs and three of my co-workers brought their dogs to the party.  I kept doggie treats in my office for their visits and was happy to get a puppy-fix and see them again.  Here are some photos I took...

This is Pepper...

This is Sam (a Bernadoodle)

This is Penny, with her dad Keaton.

This was my plate!!

I got three cards...

The cake was delicious!

Left to right:  Lillie, Chris, Conrad, Aaron & Pepper, Callie behind him, Phil, Keaton, Danon, Me, Monika, (Penny's hind end) Norman, and Jennifer.

This is volunteer Jerry  He took the group photo,
so I asked him for his photo.

Jennifer brought me a thermal bag with the logo on it.  That was nice.

Sweet words on the card...

Mali (Danon's wife) had to leave before the group photo so
she asked for a selfie.

It was a lovely time and I will miss them all.  I won't miss getting up so early each morning, or the 12-mile drive to work.  Mali, Danon, and Monika remain dear friends and that won't change, for sure.

Changing the subject... I got these photos of my great-great-niece, Maya, who is also my pen pal.  She started first grade.  Cute as a button!

This morning, I need to pop in at the attorney's office.  One more thing came up that they need my signature for.  Then I need to pick up a prescription at Publix, get some paint at the Ace Hardware store, and fill the car up with petrol.  I will be visiting the gas station a lot less now!  That's a plus!!  Routine doctor's appointment this afternoon.

Tomorrow, I will be going down to Punta Gorda for lunch with my grandchildren!!  Our monthly pot-luck lunches are beginning at church this Sunday. We take the summers off because of the heat and humidity.  Hopefully it won't be too bad in the shade. We eat outside. So a busy weekend ahead, but a good busy!

If you made it this far, thanks for celebrating with me!!  The weekend is here!

Peace and Hugs!

Let ev’ry kindred, ev’ry tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all.

Now for a new chapter - your great grand pen pal niece is adorable. Now you get to do your errands on your own time.

  4. Terri! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you, but I know there is some sorrow along with the joy. You met some wonderful people there and touched many lives. What a nice send off they gave you and I know you felt their love.
    Maya is adorable!

  6. Congratulations on your retirement, Terri! I am very happy for you and know you will treasure every single day. The retirement party looks great (WONDERFUL food), and all the guests are so pleasing, including the 4-legged ones. I am very happy for you!

  7. FIRST, Maya's 'sunbeam' expression is the best! Wouldn't it be wonderful if all children were that excited about school?
I'm so glad Danan and the team celebrated you in the fashion you deserve. Will they be looking to replace you? Someone's got some mighty big shoes to fill ... and I don't mean that literally. (lol)

    1. Lillie is part time in Education. She will transition into part time in my place, so will work full time but in two different areas.

  8. What a splendid retirement party, Terri! It is clearly obvious that your co-workers/friends will miss you at the job, but I know it must feel great to be free from having to work. Thanks for all these marvelous photos, and yes, Maya is a doll! :)

  10. So glad they gave you a great "send-off" party! I know they will miss you greatly! But I am so happy for you to be able to finally retire and enjoy having the time to do the things you are looking forward to doing! Oh, your sweet little Maya is so cute! She looks like a bundle of energy and personality! I'm so happy you get to go see your grandkids tomorrow. I know you and they enjoy spending time together, and that is really a blessing! So now, what will you do on Monday morning when you don't have to get up and get out the door so early? I hope you will just relax and enjoy your home and friends!! I know you have plenty of projects on tap, but just enjoy yourself in the process. Hope to see you sometime soon!
