Childhood
Welcome to Toni's Tuesday 4 and another chance to learn more about yourself and your fellow bloggers.
This week is all about you …
1. Were you an adventurous child at all? I think my answer is yes.
2. What were some of your favorite places to go as a child? Amusement parks, movies, restaurants, zoo. etc? In the summer, I went to the city swimming pool, but we moved to Millersport when I was 10. To this day, Millersport has less than 1,200 citizens. We played on the railroad tracks, in the woods, and once a year got to go to an amusement park. We had big yards, rode our bikes, good climbing trees, a lake to ice skate on in the winter and swim in the summer... and found lots of fun with friends in those days before computers and cell phones.
3. What games did you play outdoors? indoors? Badminton, neighborhood ball games, we played Monopoly, but we were outside as often as we could be (see above).
4. Where did you grow up and do you think it affected who you are today? Central Ohio (30 miles east of Columbus) in a very small farming community. Of course, it affected who I am today. It was a great place and a great way to grow up.

We who were blessed to grow up in small towns I think are truly blessed! I wouldn't trade my childhood years in a small town for any big city anywhere! Your childhood sounds a lot like mine. Plus, even though I grew up in Florida, we went to Ohio every summer to visit my grandparents and cousins there in small town near Columbus! My grandparents lived in Westerville, and my Aunt Belle and cousin Cheryl lived near Worthington. I loved it up there!
ReplyDeleteThose are both considered suburbs of Columbus, now! Same part of the state as me, though. Yes, wonderful times in small towns.
DeleteThe one time I went ice skating it was fun. It must have been nice to grow up in an area that offered that every winter. Ohio is a pretty State with friendly folks. I like Indiana too. Lots to do there.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post.
Have a great day!
Yes, those lazy hazy crazy days before handheld computers disguised as phones! I've heard folks talk about ice skating on a frozen lake, but don't know I'd be brave enough to try ... to trust the ice, that is.
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Ohio (Dayton metro) once, but enthralled by all the green (as seen from the plane's window).
Have a blessed day!
The ice froze 5-8 inches. There were motorcycle races every Sunday afternoon.
DeleteWe, too, spent the majority of our days playing outdoors. Your childhood sounds idyllic, Terri. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think that was the best way to grow up. Lots of time outside, using your imagination and just having fun the way kids should. My childhood was similar.
ReplyDeleteLove that aerial picture of your town and school! And all the things you did as a kid, I thought of jumping rope, playing hopscotch, jacks... so different from the way kids spend their time today!
