Joyce gives us the fun every Wednesday! You can be a Hodgepodger HERE!
Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 523
2. October 17th is National Pasta Day...do you like pasta? Laughed out loud at that one! YES! What's your favorite? All of it. Cooked at home or eaten in your favorite Italian restaurant? Both, but Joe used to say my kitchen was the best Italian kitchen. How often do you make/eat pasta? I could eat it in one way or another every day but do try to limit it to a couple of times a month. Just look at me!! LOL I can eat pasta with just butter and garlic and be so happy!
3. Do you consider yourself a spontaneous person? Kinda/sorta. Explain. I find being spontaneous easier the older I get. Just go with it!! Life is short.
4. Who are some of your heroes? My family... all of them. I can also say Jesus - and know many of you will, too. Tell us why. My family has boldly fought cancer, endured hard losses, and kept the faith alive through it all. Jesus lifts us up and keeps us strong. He is my ultimate Superhero.
5. Let's wrap it up with something light...Taylor Swift...are you a fan? Neutral. On a scale of 1-10 how much so? 2. (1=who's Taylor?, 10=a true Swiftie, seen her in concert more than once). If you're a fan what's your favorite T. Swift song? Without Googling it, I can't name one of her songs. I'm old and like oldies and country. I do know who she is, though, so gave it a 2 above!!
6. Insert your own random thought here. Some of you are blogging friends with Cheryl (Sunlit Pathways) and know that one of her sons and his family moved to Lakeland a few months ago. They treated me to a pizza dinner at their house one night and I promised them baked ziti and am finally getting them here this Friday for dinner. They have six amazing kids and they are settling in well. Angie homeschools and the older girls have already become involved in their church youth group. Such a beautiful family and I am happy they are Lakelanders now!! I'll try to get a picture while they are here! This photo is from when Cheryl and Pat were here right after they moved in and we all went out for pizza...

What a nice post.... Crock pot for me in entertaining.. finally made it enjoyable with not worrying if all of it would come together.
ReplyDeleteThat was high praise from Joe for your cooking!
ReplyDeleteYou will have fun with Cheryl's kids! I know they'll appreciate that time together.
Yeah, just butter and seasonings on pasta was one of my go to meals as well. I wish pasta wasn't fattening. I gave it up 4 years ago. There's a Palmini brand (vegetable made from palm hearts) that imitates pasta. Cooked properly I can't tell the difference only no sugar rush or weight gain afterwards. It's really tasty with gravy. Gravy's another weakness of mine. *giggle* Oh, and now Palmini is in rice form. That's also really tasty.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing Keto Chicken Carnitas in the crockpot today. It smells delicious! Yum. Makin' my mouth water already.
Wonderful photo of y'all enjoying a meal. I know Lakeland has a lot of good restaurants.
Blessings. xx
My husband and I are trying to stick to special diets now and I did find a recipe for Zucchini Lasagna on a healthy recipe site. I have not tried it but it looked yummy.
DeleteOh, I love that statement: "You are company the first time and family after that."!
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I might introduce you to my favorite food trucker, Chef Joe. He tells how, at age 13-ish his mother told he and his brother she was finished cooking -- (in order to) school them in the art of creating a true Italian kitchen. We visited Friday night and his special was baked ziti. I'll have to try that one of these days.
I so love following Cheryl's blog, Terri - what a sweet person with a beautiful family! I'm glad you will be able to get together with them over ziti soon. :)
ReplyDeleteDanny loves pasta! I like it when he makes his homemade noodles. So fresh!
Blessings!
What a great picture! I hope I get to Lakeland one day. You can make me baked ziti : )
ReplyDeleteIt's a date!!
DeleteGood afternoon. I am with you I do not like to speak publicly. I don't like to cook for new people wither. Love pasta - and I think it is easier to be spontaneous when you are older - you don't care as much what people think and it is fun and you know it is important to have some fun. Jesus is my hero and Taylor Swift is not.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you are having Cheryl's family over for dinner! What a treat for them and you! I like pasta okay, but probably not as much as you do! We do eat spaghetti maybe 2x a month. Other than that we don't eat that much...maybe chicken and noodles occasionally and macaroni and cheese...does that count? LOL. I am sure I would love anything you cooked!! Someday!
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for that visit!!
DeleteI'm so glad you connected with Justin and the family there in Lakeland. We're looking forward to seeing you all in January! Never heard of Pasta Day but I love lasagna!
