The Wednesday Hodgepodge!!

Joyce gives us the fun questions each week!!  Thank you, Joyce!! You can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 524

From this Side of the Pond

1. October 25th is International Artists Day...do you have a favorite artist? If so tell us who and why.  Having worked at an art museum for 20+ years, I have lots of favorite artists but I think I mentioned Don Nedobeck before.  I met him in person and have a few of his prints.  Fun art!!

2. Would you describe yourself as artistic? Kinda/sorta. Elaborate.  I wanted to be an art teacher at one time in my life. I'm not super creative and am 50 years away from high school art class but I do think about painting again someday.

3. What's a skill, task, hobby, or job you've done so often you now have it 'down to a fine art'?  My job at the museum was like that after 20 years.  I'm also pretty good at cleaning cat litter boxes.  LOL

4. How often do you dine out?  Usually once a week with my Thursday dinner group. Fast food, fine dining, or somewhere in between?  Somewhere in between.  We are going to Cheddar's this week. Tell us about a less-than-stellar restaurant experience you've had recently (or not so recently if that's easier).  We have a new BBQ place here in town called 4Rivers.  It was pretty bad.  The food was just edible. The service was sloppy and the atmosphere less than stellar, for sure.  I won't go there again.

5. Do you celebrate Halloween?  No.  To what extent? Are there trick-or-treaters where you live?  We do not have trick-or-treaters.  This is a 55+ community.  I think there will be a golf cart Halloween parade.  I don't have a golf cart.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I hosted my church community group last night.  I did meatloaf, Au gratin potatoes, green beans, and a fruit salad.  Two ladies brought desserts.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it and two wanted some to take home (there were leftovers because four people didn't come at the last minute).  I have leftovers for myself, as well, and am happy about that. I am blessed with a great church and to be part of this small group.

Peace and Hugs!

Trick or treat?
Trick or treat?
Give me something good to eat!
Cookies, chocolate, jelly beans,
Happy, happy Halloween!

  3. My kids used to say "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat." LOL. We will probably have a bunch of trick or treaters again here. I just don't know for sure which night they are coming...if actually on Halloween or this weekend. I guess I need to do some checking around so I'll be ready for them. Last year I ran out of candy. I hope I have enough this year. I love that your church group and your neighborhood group get together for meals so often. That sounds like so much fun. Glad you saved some leftovers for yourself to enjoy! I would love to learn to paint, but the cost of all the supplies, etc., kind of throws me off that idea. Photography is my "art". Much more affordable as long as I don't print my pictures! LOL. I hope you have a wonderful day today!!

  4. Before arthritis and a crippling trigger thumb happened, I was a "kinda/sorta" artist too. I was the stencil queen. *lol* But I do enjoy being creative still just can't twist my hand or fingers anymore. I have to be creative with that.
The golf cart I have is used for yard work and when my legs or feet misbehave. It sure comes in handy. If you get one, be sure it's a gas powered one. The electric ones are expensive to get replacement batteries for, don't go far, and are generally unreliable.
    Blessings. xx

    1. Gas powered are not allowed. Too noisy. Electric are way too expensive which is why I don't have one. They are fun, though.

  5. I love that cat in the first section - love the painting. That is right you worked in an art museum. I forgot. You probably have a lot of knowledge from that.
You have so many friends to go out to eat with and eat at home - the perfect amount. I am interested in seeing if we get any trick or treaters here where we moved. ???

  6. Danny prepared the exact same meal for us the other night, Terri, sans the fruit salad. Meat loaf is always a popular go-to when having folks over.
We don't do the trick or treat candy here either. Our driveway is dangerously steep, so it's best if no one attempts it. We just let the house stay dark.
    Have a great week!

  7. My hubs is never happier than when he learns I've made meatloaf for dinner lol. He loves it! You should absolutely take up painting. I bet you're good at it and it seems like a relaxing sort of hobby. I'd like to try watercolors because I love the look, but would definitely need lessons. My grandfather was a painter (primarily Southwestern landscapes) and my mom is artistic, as is Daughter1 especially but I'm not sure if I have any talent as a painter. I've never really tried.

  8. I'm a little envious of your Thursday night supper group. I remember when you visited that BBQ place; such a letdown!
Thanks for reminding me, I need to make a meatloaf. I've a new recipe called 'french onion meatloaf' that sounds intriguing. I'll be sharing, provided it comes out okay.
