The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thank you, Joyce, for today's Hodgepodge!  Y'all can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 514

From this Side of the Pond

1. Hello August. What's one thing you're looking forward to this month?  I'm looking forward to a couple of things but the one I have scheduled is lunch with my beautiful granddaughter, Lauren, mid-month at our favorite place in Punta Gorda!

2. What are you doing to beat the heat right now?  I stay inside where the AC is on as much as possible.  If you live in the southern hemisphere are you enjoying cooler temps or counting the days until summer? I live in central Florida and am just a little jealous of those enjoying cooler temps right now!

3. How do you see the world?  It feels like Satan has a tight grip but I know God is in control and most people are good.

4. What food product do you think is better store-bought than homemade?  Sam's Club rotisserie chickens are the best you can buy and better than I can make at home.  How about something you refuse to buy because it is so much better homemade?  I don't refuse to buy cookies but I've not found a store-bought cookie that beats homemade cookies, ever.

5. Are you easy to get along with?  I like to think so, yes.  I hope so!!

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  Last night our community celebrated National Night Out with our Lakeland Police Department.  The kitchen volunteers did wraps and chips for dinner.  Residents paid but any officers who stopped in got a free wrap and a goodie bag.  There were a few vendors with handouts.  I picked up a few things from ADP.  I also got my picture taken with an officer who I chatted with a bit.  I will copy the photo when/if it gets posted by the HOA on Facebook.  I didn't give them my phone for a photo.  Years ago (early 90s) Joe and I did a 15-week class called Citizens' Police Academy.  We both really enjoyed it.  I thanked the officer for posing with me and for his service to our community.  It was fun.  I left around 5:30 and it was ongoing to 6:30.

Our HOA  Pres. posted pictures late last night, so here we are.  Poor guy had to pose with a bunch of old ladies!! LOL

Peace & Hugs!

National Night Out with the police is a great initiative ... you picked a cutie for your photo! Hmmm, that mention of the Citizens Police Academy sounds really intriguing; I'm going to check if anything like that's available here. Have a blessed day! xo

  3. Love the photo! National Night Out is always a fun event and our department used to do a citizen's police academy too. My brother did it one year and seemed to really enjoy it.

  4. I am sure the police appreciated the effort in their support. They deal with terrible things most days and need to be appreciated.

  7. I too am HOT in HotAtlanta! lol We haven't really gotten to the worst of it yet either.
We have made a mess out of the country - but I do have a belief that even though this is true - God has the final word and will save us.
    I agree about the cookies.

  8. Homemade cookies are definitely the best, Terri. I love that photo of you with the policeman, and so glad your HOA took time to celebrate our men and women in blue. They are the best!
